Flawed Exit Polls

Posted on 11/06/2004 5:06:51 PM PST by Ragnorak

We all know the exit polls were dead wrong. They had Kerry winning Virginia, South Carolina and North Carolina not to mention every swing state.

Aren't all these statistics about X% of voters claiming morality was their main priority or Y% of Catholics voted for Kerry, etc just the internals of the these same atrociously wrong exit polls? Why are we still seeing these results quoted as authoritative? (rhetorical)

You can take every article by some pundit who's told us who we are based on those internals and deposit it in the nearest parakeet cage. Because these exit polls were wrong, nobody has any "real information" about why we as a country voted the way we did. If you don't feel it inside, if you don't see it when you look in the mirror, this time around no bean counter can tell you why. Something about that makes me want to smile.

PS: I intend to start hammering the media with mail about those numbers. The only story there is how bad the exit polls were. If they want to know who the American people are for this election, they will have to get out from behind that desk and ask.

You, of course, know that the DUmmies are convinced that the exit polls were actually correct and that the votes on electronic voting machines were somehow manipulated by republicans, thus giving the President fraudulent votes enabling him to steal the election from Senator Kerry.

Just thought I'd toss out that explanation.

Actually, flawed reporting of early exit polling data.

See this thread: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1273098/posts for more info.

I have been reading the Daily KOS and DU sites. They have worked themselves up to a frenzy by claiming that the election was rigged in several of the NW Counties in Florida. Believe me, we're going to start hearing about this. I hope that there are some freepers out there that can help analyze some of the voting statistics in Florida.

I always lie to pollsters.

I would if I were ever polled

I read on a thread at FR that prior to the election Rush Limbaugh was telling his 20,000,000 daily listeners to lie to the pollsters. That could make a big difference.

Right, when I heard that the exit polls had Kerry winning, it made me so angry I called 4 friends and we all went down to vote right away, even knowing we live in Los Angeles and California would probably go to LURCH! I had suspicions something was up but didnt put it together till later that the RATS were trying to suppress our vote turn out.Is there anyway to link the exit polls to the Kerry Campaign? Who put out these bogus exit polls? I smell a major scandal if I CAN GET ANY PROOF!

Actually, you just have to take the data and refigure it according to the actual groups/percentages that voted. They can be accurate. If they're in error at all, then they err in favor of liberal views.

I was going based on the the Dick Morris article

http://www.thehill.com/morris/110404.aspx

Are you saying that the final exit polling data turned out to be correct?

Using the exit polls to calculate who will win (depends on proper percentages) is totally different than using them to figure why people voted the way they did. The only ones similarly effected would be the overall reasons, which again would require using proper percentages. But after the fact when you know the exact percentages and are not guessing, it should be pretty exact.

That is what the Washington Post article indicates.

Check out this exit poll data for Ohio. Do you see any discrepancy that would indicate massive fraud? You can check data from other states by substituting the state name in the link. For example, here is data for Pennsyvania. (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/elections/2004/graphics/exitPolls_pennsylvania.html)

I deliberately stayed off FR on election day until about 20:00 EST. I'm glad I did too!

Can anyone give a link to one of the threads about the early Kerry lead? I'm guessing that one of them would have over a thousand responses. That's the one I'm looking for.

I tried several search terms such as "exit" "early" "lead" "polls" "polling" etc.
