November 6, 2004 -- Former President Bill Clinton, in his first comments on President Bush's re-election, yesterday urged Democrats not to "whine" about the outcome, but to find a "clear national message." Clinton also said that Democrat John Kerry was hurt by the polarizing issue of gay marriage, which was legalized by Massachusetts' top court and put on the ballot in 11 states, and the surfacing of a tape from Osama bin Laden in the final days of the race.
Reminded of terrorism by the bin Laden tape, voters decided they didn't want to "change horses" during a time of heightened concern over national security, Clinton said in a speech to the Urban Land Institute at the New York Hilton.
Clinton said Hispanic voters tilted to Bush because of terrorism fears, as did suburban "soccer moms," who Clinton said turned into "the security moms of 2004."

If the Libs wont listen to the people who helped W win perhaps they will listen to their dear leader.

Former President Bill Clinton, in his first comments on President Bush's re-election, yesterday urged Democrats not to "whine" about the outcome, but to find a "clear national message."The problem here, however: their "clear national message" IS that they're whiners. :)

Nah, they are ripping Bill to pieces over at the DU board over his comments.

"Bill" is probably relieved that KerryEdwards lost so that his "wife" will be virtually unopposed for the 2008 nomination. He is already thinking about campaign stops for October 2008.

"Nah, they are ripping Bill to pieces over at the DU board over his comments."
Wonder why they are bothering. Billyboy's "analysis" is trite and banal. Nothing new, no insights, a reminder of just how shallow this feeble excuse for a man truly is.

Love him or hate him he does know politics enough to see the problem. Thing is the Dems are too far entrenched in hate to care, and I can't wait to see what they try in 2006!

I'm glad that they won't listen to him. It guarantees that they will never be in positions of power again.

Clinton never got it...and still doesn't...
He is another liar not all that much different than Kerry
The right combination of things and people 'clicked' and Kerry was out and Pres Bush was in.
It was ordained by God to be...and it was and is....
The people are sick of Hollywood and a lying media covering up for corrupt politicians
even Hilterly understands that one...and trembles...
The dems have counted on a lying propagandizing MSM to 'cover up their sins and crimes'
before during and after the fact...if they don't have this kind of spin and cover the people will reject them...
Clinton still doesn't get it...
Repeating the same mistake over and over and each time expecting a different outcome is a good definition of insanity...
Both the MSM and the Dems by that definition are insane..
imo

Sinkemperor forgot to mention that wherever he stumped for Kerry, kerry got trounced.

'Love him or hate him he does know politics enough to see the problem.'
He still sees politics as one big polling process though. He doesn't really get it. Common sense morality is what it's all about.

Actually, jjust the opposite..as long as Bill and Hilalry are around, the dems will never regain power...as long as Carville, Begala, Stephanopoulous, Shrum, and the rest are around..as the face of the Democrats..they'll always lose..These guys got lucky in 1992..Luck as spelled..PEROT...

Yes, very true, but this is good for us. He's the best at it in his party, and is too busy chasing skirts to care. He just puts out these interviews and statements to assuage his ego. Can you name one Democrat who uses common sense or understands morals. They have replaced it with nuanced positions and polling. This is why they polled about the bin Laden tape. They do not understand the threat and felt that a majority opinion could decide their path, not a moral compass.

The "people" on DU seem to have trouble grasping the concept that to win elections, you have to stand for things the majority of people will vote for. Even Clinton knows that.

This is classic Bill Clinton. He sets the stage for his comments with a prescient observation, Democrats shouldn't whine about the outcome but should look for a clear national message. Well, ok, that's true.
But then what does he do? He discusses everything except the "clear national message" that was sent Tuesday. For Clinton, the vote was about what mainstream America "fears," or to put it differently, a negative reaction. Fears of gay marriage, fears of Osama Bin Laden launching another terrorist attack, etc. He refuses to recognize that the clear national message that was sent was a positive affirmation of George Bush's character and values, which reflected those of mainstream America.
Let Clinton and the Dems believe that it was just negativity among the voting population. Let them think that all they have to do is find a new way to communicate with voters rather than address their policies. We'll whip them again and again, so long as they persist in their delusions.
