Hard as I try I cannot get this smile off my face. Thanks to the Swiftees, FReepers and Americans everywhere, Viet Nam Veterans are finally exonerated! Welcome home brothers and sisters. Semper Fi, Kelly

Thank God CSPAN resisted the pressure. I was glad to be able to see Kerry's Senate testimony and the Dick Cavett debate. Those are legitimate info about a candidate, and an objective media should not try to cover up the facts.

Portions of his sometimes overwrought testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in 1971 could be twisted into an attack ad, the Kerryites feared.

Twisting?! Twisting was NOT necessary. Just read a transcript!

Not many people cared about the status of the medals Kerry won in 1968. But his testimony, falsely accusing his comrades of systematically committing war atrocities, destroyed his crebility with veterans.

I just hope that the Swift Vets and all other VN vets feel some vindication after this, and perhaps that some small justice has been done, though long-delayed.

The Swift Boat ads—a first round charging that Kerry had lied to win his medals, then a second batch accusing him of betraying his mates by calling them war criminals—were misleading, but they were very effective.

How were they "misleading"? Newsweek simply states that as a fact, without evidence.

Historian Douglas Brinkley, author of a wartime biography of Kerry, cautioned that Kerry's diary included mention of a meeting with some North Vietnamese terrorists in Paris. Edwards was flabbergasted. "Let me get this straight," the senator said. "He met with terrorists? Oh, that's good."

Now that Kerry is beaten, we need to pursue the release of his records. Not to destroy him, but to finally get the facts out that the "Old Media" refused to question. They repeatedly called everyone liars that did not accept everything Kerry told them as truth.

"finally exonerated"

For me, not the point.

For most, military service is unpleasant at best. The only reward is the honor and respect you get for having served your country. Kerry, Fonda, Hayden and the rest stole that from us, to use for their own purpose.

I'm just happy I don't have to look at Kerry's face on the news for the next 8 years and be reminded of it. For that, I'm extremely gratefull to all that made his defeat possible.

> ... the Kerry team suffered from their slow response.

They keep repeating this, as if making it a mantra somehow
makes it true. They problem wasn't the "swiftness" of the
response, it was that there was no credible response. All
they could do was vainly shout "liars" and pretend that UFC
was "debunked". Anyone who checked, knew otherwise.

> The Swift Boat ads ... were misleading, but they were

> People don't like to admit that they're influenced

And this is why the digging on Kerry's history must
continue. The legacy and leftist media is STILL covering
for him.

> Kerry ... "We need to get these guys,"

Then why didn't he sue for libel. If the SBVFT were in
fact lying, their activities easily rose above the bar
set for libel of a "public figure". Kerry and his people
certainly had no reluctance to threaten suits against
the publisher and bookstores, on any grounds except libel.

Democrats keep calling this a Republican attack against the Kerry Presidential campaign. John O'Neill has been fighting against John Kerry since 1971 and he voted for Al Gore in 2000.

kerry is finished ~ a footnote in history, but we shouldn't stop until the media has cleaned up its act! How many brothers died because of their lies then, and how many are dying because of their lies now. I wanna see how heads rolling at the MSM! I want them to start telling the truth! The full truth, not their version. Nothin' but the truth, not their lying opinions.

Exonerated? I don't feel it. Perhaps if he'd received zero electoral votes, but as it is way too many folks betrayed us again. Very vote for that POS was spittle.

Even now the talking heads begin to disguise their next chump. Gotta be from the south or Midwest and take lessons to sound like elmer gantry.

As always, thanks for the welcome home and Semper Fi, but this was just a battle, and too close for any vindication felt by me. The damage done was pretty deep.

I'm with you in smiling! I'm hugely delighted in W's win, and in the remarkable pick-ups in the legislature. I feel prophetic, as I called it, long ago. I had faith and kept fear at bay.

Happy? Ecstatic! Vindicated? Nope.

"Kerry's operatives had worried from the beginning that some right-wing group would try to use his old Vietnam antiwar speeches against him."

Some "right-wing group" huh? Many of the swiftees were registered Dems. Thanks for the condescension though, Time magazine! That's why your side lost the election, but you're too stupid to figure it out.

What's really pathetic is that even his own daughters are fooled. Attack back? He couldn't. He would have to lie even deeper, and they would have been exposed. This is not rocket science, people, just the plain and simple truth.
