The best thing W and the new senate could do for GM and for America would be to tax union dues as income to the union.

In principle I support this, but what's to prevent unions from hiking their dues to make up the dfference?

So what if they hike the dues? That would be counter productive because at some point the workers would insist on eliminating the union altogether.
