>>After clinching the Democratic nomination, Newsweek reports, John Kerry was so desperate to enlist GOP Sen. John McCain as his running mate that he made an "outlandish" offer: He'd expand the role of vice president to include the duties of secretary of Defense.

Someone sent me a tape of (big lib) Harry Shearer's "Le
Show" from a few weeks back and it had a skit in which
Kerry tried to woo McCain and suggested making him
a "super-sized" VP with Sc. of Defense duties added.
Hmm! Part of a regular Le Show feature (prob. soon to
be dropped) called "Profiles in Kerry-age"

I don't know if they would have broken there word to the Bush campaign or not... maybe. Probably not... reporters covet access more than anything.

But this is really just a circular argument. If they never agreed to the terms, they wouldn't have been able to obtain this information and it would never have been officially documented.

This is more like historical reporting instead of current news reporting. I don't think it's a bad thing. I've read all of the article that is currently available, and it seems pretty honest and unforgiving. Who knows though? Maybe they are omitting even more damaging facts.

At least we got our beliefs out Kerry's ineptitude confirmed in writing.

Well .. while your argument about them coveting access is true .. their hatred of Bush would have easily over shadowed that.

I had an inclination to answer your post, but I put on some music. It happened to be Iggy Pop - 'The Passenger'

"I am the passenger. I stay under glass. I look through my window so bright. I see the stars came out tonight. See the bright and hollow sky.

And everything looks so good tonight".

Anyway, I believe that the Bush-Cheney campaign knew about the offer to McCain but didn't figure they could gain any political traction and chose not to use it.

There was word out about the offer (leaked by Newsweek reporter? I don't recall a source ever being mentioned), though McCain and Kerry denied it. The Newsweek article says when Kerry made the offer, he noted that he couldn't put as an unequivocal offer so he could deny it later.

Newsweek was one of the worst offenders in terms of excreting an agenda. Week after week the mag was one long ad for Kerry.

I'm not one to defend Newsweak, but the magazine got exclusive behind-the-scenes access in exchange for a promise to NOT publish its report until after the election.

Kind of like CNN and Saddam's deal for news access. Did Kerry shake the reporters down for donations in addition to selling media advertising at wholesale pricing?

The things about Kerry and McCain shows that Kerry was desperate to win and do anything to do so.
McCain should have leveled with the public the true nature of Kerry's offer but did not.
In my opinion this is just another example of McCain in love with himself but even more shows he is mentally unstable.
McCain would be a far more dangerous person as President than even Kerry and I wish somehow he could be driven out of public life.

John McCain had an absolute obligation to report this. But he had an absolute obligation to not defend the treason of Kerry. I don't like McCain, I think he is a weasel

And you are right in your post.

What I posted the other day one of the the Newsweek artcle thread:

To: Tumbleweed_Connection
Thank You God Thank You God Thank You God!

Thank You for not allowing this man to become the leader of the United States of America.

Did the people from Newsweek actually really want this man to be president? This is like Eason Jordan of CNN hiding all of Hussein's "bad guy" image to maintain their contacts.

I think trying to understand the values and morals of America will be a long-shot for any of these people.

2000 taught us that every single vote counts.

2004 taught us that the media is the enemy.

We learn. We remember.

Two other things to think about:

Would the rag have kept secret any dirt it learned about the Bush admin/campaign? Hardly.

And was there a second version, decidedly expurgated, of this article that would have gone to print had Kerry won? Inquiring minds want to know...

No anymore, in any of the MSM.

Not anymore, in any of the OM (OLD MEDIA).

What is the limit of the promise to keep quiet? If the Kerry campaign had planned to assasinate the President, would they have kept quiet? I believe they would!

The old addage, "We have established the profession, we are only arguing about the price," seems very applicable.

Actually, this may work to our advantage.

Small minded rats, those who are part of the main-stream hate-mogering rat pack who may have voted for Kerry because of some marginal distaste for Bush are now learning that the MSM protected the rat candidate from the beginning. Yes, these people are slow, but a few more may wake up to the fact this time around.

As that number grows, more and more will be inclined to not trust the media and begin to seek out information on their own.

They may yet find us and grow even further.

What's obvious now is that the MSM has mislead the public even further than it ever knew with JF'nK. Maybe they're thinking now, "Hey- those Swifties, they're probably right!"

They will become angry.

It is not likely that they'll trust that the MSM is telling them everything about a rat candidate the next time around.

Either way, with or without these folks, we beat the rats soundly this time. Yet the more that cross the line, the better.
