At a time when we should be celebrating, Specter is creating division and his nomination will only keep conservatives home in the next 2006 election. We can only assume that Specter will behave according to his own statements. In which case, his Chair of the Judiciary is totally unacceptable.

Quote:

"Yesterday, Specter defined what he wanted in a judge and said he hoped Bush would consult him before picking nominees.

Specter said the late Supreme Court Justice Benjamin Cardozo said, "The constitution is an evolving document based upon the values of the people."

"That's the kind of strict constructionist that I'm looking for" in a judge, Specter said, pointing out that such a judge would not be labeled a moderate or conservative."

=== Specter as chairman of the judicial committee is a slap in the face to the millions of voters who supported Bush Tuesday.

If the last four years is any indication, might as well relax and get used to it.

Make this headstrong idiot Specter a back bencher. Where does he get off spouting off about anything? Let alone crucial judicial appointments. Because he's as senile as Yassir Arafat? I know GW is terrible on illegal immigration. If he caves on judicial appointments I'm giving up on him.

SPECTER=SENILE nothing worse than ego driven old coot in a position of power.

We reelected the worst Republican Senator, and still lost Pennsylvania.

And this dood is supposed to be important - in some way? Things must change...

Catechism of the Catholic Church and what it says about those who support abortion

What does this say about Senator Specter?

Sphincter told BUSH no judges who would favor repeal of Roe V wade would pass "his" committee. Bush has saif nothing. I believe that Specter is a foil for BUSH and the GOP so that they can claim to be Pro Life while Specter stymies the judges needed for reversal. In essence he will facilitate the retention of "moderates" in the GOP and attract them "moderates" of the Degenerate Party, thus expanding the GOP's base. In essence we are being disenfranchised. Same with closing the Mexican Border, won't happen as the GOP is pandering for the Mexican vote (legal or illegal)

BTW where have you been while this thread has been on FR for three days, thius far? Day 4 coming up.

Bush and Santorum knew Specter was a snake when they picked him up. Maybe they thought he was a non-poisonous species. But now that he is rattling and hissing with fangs exposed, maybe the Republican majority in the Senate are bright enough to see that he must be de-fanged.

We'll never know if Pat Toomey would have won or not, but I think he was a strong candidate with considerable appeal to blue collar voters.

I said from the start that Specter can be absolutely relied on to let his side down in the crunch, and to vote wrong on the most important issues, and this article offers plenty more evidence that that is true. He takes and takes and gives nothing back.

He has the morals of a rat.
