Brussels Slippery Jacques Chirac attacked Tony Blair yesterday and vowed to use the new EU Constitution to create a huge transatlantic rift with America.
The French president first rejected the olive branch offered by re-elected US president George Bush to the EU.
Chirac then slapped down Mr Blair for condemning EU chiefs at a Brussels summit as being in denial over Mr Bushs second term.
And growing ties between France, Spain and Germany left Mr Blair with fewer allies in Europe.
In an official photo of Europes leaders, the PM found himself at the end of the front row with only foreign policy chief Javier Solana for company.
Alongside him was a gap left by Chirac, who pointedly looked at his watch before snubbing visiting Iraq prime minister Ayad Allawi by leaving early.
Chirac nicknamed Le Worm for his treachery over the Iraq war had earlier vowed to build a stronger Europe to challenge America.
He held secret talks with German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and new Spanish premier Jose Luis Zapatero to plot an EU superpower.
Chirac stressed that his weapons to unite Europe to rival America are the sweeping powers the constitution gives Brussels over the foreign, defence and economic policies of EU nations.
hirac said: The affirmation of strong American politics leads naturally to the necessity to reinforce Europe politically and economically. Europe today has more than ever the need and necessity to reinforce its unity. Thats the goal of the constitution.

Of course you know, this means war.
This is a small, small man.
Screw the Frogs! And screw the EU!
Time for the US, Australia, Britain and like-minded nations to band together.
Let's annex GB and do it to'em.
All I know is that when it came time to stand up and be counted, England and Blair were there.
As long as we're friends, what exactly can France and German offer?
Chirac is building up bad karma for himself. Slimey French snail that he is.
Hang in there, Tony. America and Australia are the future. Europe is the past. And the EU is nothing but the last nostalgic attempt at an orgy by jaded dilettantes too stoned to f**k.
It's not the "EU" but a faction in it. A strong one.
Zapatero joined up with the Franco-German juggernaut, well-suited because he's anti-American.
Will the other EU members join in? I don't think Bush-hate is a strong enough bogeyman to scare the other countries into submitting to French dreams.
Something to keep an eye on though.
Neither Schroeder nor Chirac is likely to be re-elected. Schroeder's popularity is approaching the single digits, and Chirac is none too popular either.
Their economies are rapidly going down the tubes. France's wine and tourism industries are in shambles because of the American boycott. The French love to thumb their noses at the Americans, but they aren't used to paying a price for it.
They will learn. And they will make the politicians pay who are putting their entitlements at risk.
Amen. The EU is going down the tubes exonomically, and have a ton of Muslim problems, esp. France, Holland, and Spain. UK, let them go down the drain without you.
I honestly feel terrible for what Tony Blair is going through. He has done right and stood strong for the U.S. and this war. Now, he has to suffer being looked down upon by Chirac and gang as well.
Terrorist Alert in France
AP and UPI reported that the French Government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from run to hide.
The only two higher levels in France and surrender and collaborate.
The raise was precipitated byh the recent fire which destroyed one of France's white flag factories, disabling their military.
"Let's annex GB"
Can you imagine how leftist the UK is by US standards(Blair included)? There would go ANY chance of a GOP victory.
great quote!
Is it time to influence their election?
If they are facing extinction, ally with Spain and GB.
Ever stood on a snail? They're easily crushed.
