Would like assistance in identifying awards or certifications on the U.S.A. uniform of the aging Sgt. Robert Jenkins, who had defected to North Korea, and was sentenced in Tokyo this week to dishonorable discharge and loss of pay/benefits (after ranked busted down and short brig time at Yokosuka Naval Base, Japan). Per above photo from South Korean site. (This may be difficult to tell from the size of the photograph.)

I'm pretty sure the three gold buttons in the middle of his jacket keep it closed, and need to be "unbuttoned" to remove the jacket. After that, I'm at a loss...

It appears to be similar to the other traitor john kerry's get up from his staged pictures of his 4 month tour in Nam.

Whay are you interested? They have all been forfeited upon his conviction. The Army was the one who gave him the uniform when they took him into custody anyway.

The gold item above his nametag looks like a marksman's medal. I can't tell with the other stuff.

The only one I can make out is the National Defense ribbon in the top middle. Ribbons are worn in the order of precedence with the lowest on the bottom and the highest on the top. If he's wearing the National Defense on the top row, it would indicate that he hasn't received any significant awards.

In addition, as a deserter all of his awards and medals would have been revoked.

None. His dishonorable discharge strips him of all rank and awards.

really it is too small to tell... but I do at least see the national defense service ribbion and looks like south east asia service ribbion, and possible marksmen medal underneath

The insignia aove his name plate is a Distinctive Unit Insignia / Regimental Crest and is not an award.

I think you will find that the uniform is not army but United States Air Force.

It's a little getting hard for me to tell the color but I'm pretty sure it's blue and it looks like mine when I was in in '65.

No, it's Army. The blue backing on his brass and the blue cord denote that he is/was an infantryman (only they wear those.) His rank is/was Sergeant/E-5, and I believe the previous poster is correct about the ribbons.

The color of the uniform is actually green, but does not show on this photo very well. It is of the U.S. Army, though.

Certainly you can kindly give me a little more credit than that and can assume I am not a moron and that I know that already? :-)
