Inquiries from Americans wanting to move to New Zealand have "exploded" since George W Bush was re-elected president.
The Immigration Service's website had 10,300 hits from the United States the day after the election. Usually it gets 2500 hits a day.
And the phones of its US marketing directors in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Portland, Oregon, have been ringing nonstop since the election.
Marketing director Don Badman said there had been up to 300 telephone calls and emails a day.
"We've been doing this for 11 months and it's been building up to about six to eight calls a day, but from Thursday it's exploded. It really started picking up from 11pm the night of the election."
The San Francisco Chronicle reported that many Americans were inquiring about moving to New Zealand, Australia and Canada as a result of the election. (...)

How about France? Why don't they got to France?
Perfect match.
--yep---according to Hillsdale College, the New Zealanders are well along on privatization of a whole lot of gov't services-starting with the post office, if I remember correctly---
We've already got enough hard lefties here (Canada). I'd suggest France or maybe Germany.
As an employer, I know I almost always throw out the applications of those who said they left their previous jobs because they "couldn't get along" with their manager. I don't want take on someone else's disgruntled employee.
Why would any country want these people?
New Zealand has a very restrictive immigration policy. However, I hear Al-Kaka is looking for fresh replacements.
Expatriating would mean paying higher taxes. While they proclaim wanting the higher taxes to pay for social giveaways, I seriously doubt many will be willing to put their money where their mouths are.
the lost continent of atlantis, somewhere under the sea, would be a great place to send them. there would be no embedded base of conservatives and they could crerate a socialist state unencumbered with poluted air. of course, they would get an up close look at the laws of nature and the ensuing terrorist threat (called sharks).
Yes! Maybe we could start some kind of exchange program.
But New Zealand is an English speaking country.
I gave a total of $350 to Swiftvets. I'll gladly contribute the same amount to a plane ticket for any Dim that wants to leave US permanently.
Is there anything we could do collectively to encourage their departure?
Perhaps if we were to give them airfare assistance?
We could take up a collection: I personally will pay Larry Flynt's airfare - well, for one seat, anyway.
Unfortunately, I think New Zealand requires that immigrants have employable skills?
That'll stop most Dims...
Adios!
Well of course! As soon as they move in they will work to change it. That's what happened to NH with all the Mass libs moving in.
Sad,isn't it?
I would have thought that they would be inquiring into regaining their homes in Canada from when they moved back here under Carter's amnesty program.
C-YA!!!!!
I was 12 years old when I got into an argument with my father and threatened to "run away from home".
