we do look at the Orthodox community as a bunch of atavistic fanatics trying to live as if they were in the 1600's Well, that's not a very nice thing to say about my son and grandson.
We medieval atavistic fanatics look at reform Jews as basically uneducated about their heritage, history and religious practices and beliefs, and clinging to quaint 19th-Century notions that "The more we assimilate and act like gentiles and embrace the latest fads and politically correct ideologies, the more the non-Jews will like us."

Well that's what makes horse races, but I guess that against the religion too.

When the baby-boomers are gone, the Demorat Party is either gone or very different. You have an important point here. Dems are running on events in the '40's and '60's and, of course, the recurrent communism/socialist theme. We need more than two political partys and we are rapidly heading toward one only. That is not a good thing really.

There is also a large "Ba'al Teshuva" (secular Jews becoming orthodox) movement throughout the world (including myself--I come from a standard unaffiliated family and have become quite observant in the past 5 years)
This is one of the most exciting things going on in religion, IMHO. Jews returning to Torah and the wisdom of the Sages can only be the work of HaShem, and I agree that the "face" of Judaism is changing rapidly. In the next generation, the majority (if not all) of synagogues will be Orthodox. Baruch HaShem!

You are kidding yourself if you think that most of your reformed brethren are pro-Israel. They might say they are for PC reasons but when it comes down to it they are more loyal to their liberal ideology then they are to Israel.
