I read the New York Times (NYT: news, chart, profile) and the New Yorker religiously. I watch CNN (TWX: news, chart, profile) and the networks' evening news programs as well as the gabfests on Sunday mornings, too. I think she is being sarcastic. She is pointing out that the reason she missed everything about the election is precisely because she was reading only the Liberal sources.

Judging by the whole article, I have to disagree. I don't think the writer really has the capacity for satire or irony. It's just a regurgitation of her prejudices. Later, she even asks how her anointed media outlets could possibly have "missed this big story" and let her down so badly.

I think it will pass most New Yorker over, however. She needs to be a little less subtle. If she had referenced the blogosphere and Free Republic as another view, her sarcasm would have been clear.
