I am very familiar with Democratic Underground. Losers all. What surprises me here is the BLATANTLY anti-american bent in the mainstream media here. It is not strange at all. They are jealous of our power. The reason why it feels "strange" is because for the first 200 years we were jealous of their power and we have not moved our mind set on this yet. The US will come to know the real Britain soon. When that day comes Britain will just have to learn to live with her second place just as we did. All you are seeing now are her shock and disbelief that maybe her feelings of superiority in the last decades have been unfounded. I believe the MSM has perpetuated the "illusion" of the old EU too long. Let's get the word out over the net about how they really are and end this charade.

I'm not trying to start a mutual flame-war, but over here Parliament makes law; the courts interpret it. It works, it has done for centuries; and it would seem that that was the intention of the founding fathers of the U.S.

I think such a system can only work in a place like England where the people are such lovers of tradition. A Westminster parliamentary system could very well slide into an elected dictatorship. However, the culture of British politics and the huge weight of tradition behind it, makes such a slide almost impossible.
