The combat hospital on the chief U.S. base near Fallujah has set up a morgue and doubled medical staff and supplies in preparation for an expected stream of casualties from an anticipated assault on the rebel stronghold.
''We've had 20 to 30 casualties on a given day here. We expect maybe double that on a serious day. And we can handle them,'' Capt. Eric Lovell, a Navy doctor, said Thursday at the base hospital, a low concrete building announced by a sign saying ''Cheaters of Death.''
The hospital added a Marine Mortuary Affairs team last month, a unit charged with identifying dead troops, cataloguing their personal effects and preparing their bodies for the flight to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.
The morgue team counts 16 reservists trained in handling corpses of U.S. troops as well as Iraqi civilians and fighters that arrive at the hospital here, said Commander Lach Noyes, a Navy surgeon. The morgue team also travels to bomb scenes to recover body parts and corpses that need to be extracted from vehicles, Noyes said.

dang...it's a loud mouthed shrew?
can't hit her...life ain't fair.
I may be wrong.....and the training of our young grunts a little more "sensitive to local impact" -- but I believe this could be the Islamanazi's FIRST major engagement with a Marine force that lost brothers over a protracted period, in a specific area with a KNOWN and IDENTIFIABLE enemy "organization"....
Most of the Marine losses, occured AFTER the Marines pulled back and gave the bastards time to reflect and comply with the ceasefire agreement-----and they DIDN'T.
This assult will be different. It ain't gonna be pretty...
Revenge is a dish best served cold and slowly in many courses...
I doubt the Marine Corps has figured out how to discipline "rage" out of the young Marine's heart.
The discipline simply focuses that rage into effective, deadly consequences against the enemy...
I pray God will go with them, and being them safely home...

Praying for your son and all the other sons there, and for calm and strength for you.
I think fighting age Fallujah men are going to have a hard time surrenduring before a bullet gets them.
What do the Marines say now? "It's a perfect war. They want to die, and we want to kill them."
I trust our Marines will fight as ferociously as their fathers did in Hue and on Okinawa. Shock and awe.
Amen and God Bless.
call me a pessimist, but I wm very worried about this - how it will play out. I've never been part of the group asking for MOABs and carpet bombing of the city, but I also don't want to see a frontal assault with mostly ground forces - we are going to lose alot of soliders here. and I also fear that Zarqawi and his top people aren't in Fallujah anymore.

some of these neighboorhoods have to be pretty much leveled - because I think the buildings have all been booby trapped. we've read that the bulk of the insurgents are congregated into 2 or 3 neighboorhoods. have we done enough bombing in those areas? do you think Zarqawi is still in Fallujah? I just can't imagine why he wouldn't have left weeks ago.
I agree - Father, in the name of Jesus - keep your hand of protection over our soldiers as they go forth to defend the Iraqi people and America. Amen!
Isaiah 54:17 - "No weapon formed against you can prosper ..."
May God go with our armed forces...Prayers for the families, too, who wait at home...
1 - Too bad they weren't allowed to finish of Feluga the last time they had it circled. When was that again?
Prayers for our troops safety and for victory.
God be with all who serve in this battle..Stay with FR and we will pray you through this...((((((boxerblues)))))
They have our prayer's & our deepest respect here. May there victory be swift & decisive.
thanks Meg it means a lot to me to know we do have a lot of support
Why can't we just blow the whole region up? Aren't our boys worth more than those scum bags? I'm sick of this PC $hit! Reduce it to rubble and then go in and pick the flies off 'em. Let our boys live! 1,000 Muslims isn't worth 1 American Soldier. PERIOD!!!!!!!!!
Psalm 91
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD , "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust."
Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.
If you make the Most High your dwelling- even the LORD , who is my refuge-
then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent.
For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;
they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
"Because he loves me," says the LORD , "I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation."
