They forgot the biggest space backer of all....George Bush.
His agenda for space will go forward now in congress with more republican seats to help sustain funding. By the time he leaves in 2008, NASA will be on the path to return to the moon and such momentum will have some carry-through to his successor.

Stupid Space treaty has been holding us back for waaaay to long.

with the exception of one Texas Congressman. Rep. Nick Lampson (D-TX), The only reason Lampson supported the space industry was because his old district included mush of the area surrounding the Johnson Space Center, populated with NASA and space industry employees. His support was fair weather only, and not based in principle.
