OMG - thats the lamest thing I've ever heard a War on Drugs Warrior ever say.
"And 'poppies' come from Mars?
C'mon, that's a really weak arg ..."
Ok, come on now....LOL We all know that some plants or herbs can be poisonous and extremely dangerous, while others are proven to have certain medicinal qualities. So why is it a "weak argument" that marijuana and other natural herbs have medicinal value, and also have been used for centuries? Both of those statements are based on facts.
"Is pot addictive to some people?
Have you ever known about BB bud? The local law stopped and arrested a truck driver with some pot from Canada. One and 1/2 million dollars worth. Big money."
From what I've learned, pot is not "physically" addictive, but can be "mentally" addictive. Like any other "feel good" substance....be it pot, caffeine, Coke (as in soda) and hell yes, even CHOCOLATE! YUM! And no, I do not know what BB bud is, but I'm not one who indulges in marijuana, I simply have an open mind about the subject.
"And your statement completely overlooks an important facor: the contributory aspect (to accidents, et al), owing to slowed reflexes, diminished immediate reflexive abilities, "rapid-reaction" to problem solving in the immediate, etc. ..."
My husband medicine for his gout also causes these affects, as does cold medicine, pain relievers, yata yata yata
a voice of reason!! thank you! LOL
My husband medicine for his gout also causes these affects, as doesyada yada yada - you failed to understand that this is (I am going to assume here) under the guidance and prescription of a doctor - remember those guys?
As opposed to the self-administration and self-prescription of a 'dooby' whenever the hell the urge 'hits' ...
We all know that some plants or herbs can be poisonous and extremely dangerous,And now, you supply a 'dodge' as arg.
WATER can be harmful too; when 'taken' incorrectly ...

I did not only mention "gout" medicine, my sentence said, "My husband medicine for his gout also causes these affects, as does cold medicine, pain relievers, yata yata yata"
Yes, his "gout" medicine is prescribed by his doctor, but as I recall the aisles in a drugstore have the rest of the medicines posted above that all seem to have the same warning labels on them relating to your concerns.
You really seem to be quite angry about the subject of marijuana and refuse to accept any facts about the medical usage of it. Seems to be a close-minded way of looking at things. If we were talking about tax-breaks, I'd swear you were a Lib. LOL

Life is good.

"We all know that some plants or herbs can be poisonous and extremely dangerous" is a "dodge"? say what? I'm not dodging anything here. Yes, as you stated, "water can be harmful too; when 'taken' incorrectly". I've seen that happen when people mix it with whiskey. But let's not outlaw water now too. rofl!
The same thing happened in California when this was voted in years ago.
Yes, there is no reason to be angry. The President won reelection, the nation will continue to persevere, the police will still enforce the law, and there will be ice at Chena Hot Springs.
Life is good.
Ah yes, life IS good! Time for a chill pill. :)
I agree with you but I have to say that Police Chief Oates is right on this one. State Law trumps a city ordinance.
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive.
It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies.
The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."
-C. S. Lewis
My husband medicine for his gout also causes these affects, as does cold medicine, pain relievers, yata yata yatayada yada yada ...
If you haven't figure out the difference between 'doing gout meds' and a hitting a 'dooby' for escape - I can't lead you there ...
The 'pro-doper' crowd is notorious for bending over backwards, twisting logic and reason out of shape and making all kinds of 'moral equivalences' with the accepted 'vices' that they have lost all moral ground for making *ANY* kind of argument for 'legalization' of free and unfettered 'dooby' toking.
If you want an amendment guaranteeing your right to 'inhale or ingest intoxicating substances' then I suggest you work for legislation codifying that right along with the little 'l' libertarians; DON'T expect most Conservatives or Republicans or to help you though.
Inhaling or ingesting intoxicating substances doesn't seem to me to be 'one step closer to freedom' for mankind though; label that as one more form of enslavement, even though that to which you find yourself enslaved can't talk, command or direct, you nonetheless find yourself "at it's whims" ...
...and there will be ice at Chena Hot Springs.
Hey! are you from Alaska? It just dawned on me that someone in cyberspace knew about Chena Hot Springs. LOL I'm betting there is plenty of ice near the hot springs right now. I live in Alaska (interior, bush community) and it was my father who nick-named me, "Chena", after the Chena river. My dad was in the U.S. Air Force back in the 50's and was stationed in Fairbanks at what used to be called "Ladd AFB", but is now Eilson AFB. I even named my latest Siberian/malamute, Chena.
Although the initiative was legally and appropriately placed on the ballot after a petition drive, Postema said 27-year-old case law dictates that city officials can refer complaints for prosecution under state law even though it would be contrary to the city's new charter language.
As a youth I spend several years between Chena Hot Springs and Fairbanks, then some years between Palmer and Wasilla.
Later, during my own career, I lived in both Sitka and Juneau, but spent a lot of time up in the Donut Hole checking foreign fishing boats. My last tour of duty up there involved inspections which took me everywhere from Attu, to Tok Junction (there is a military installation there), Port Clarence, St. Paul Island and even Cantwell.
Unfortunately, because of health issues with one of our children, we retired to the nether regions of hell for anyone who loves Alaska...Seattle.
