......Asharq Al Awsat, widely read by Arabs in and out side the region, subtly endorsed the re-election of Bush, leading with a picture of Bush and the first lady waving under the headline, "The world prepares itself for 4 more years with Bush." An article by Mamoun Fandy titled "Bush's victory ... is a new American message" observed, "The American voter didn't give any weight to criticism from Europe, especially from France and Britain, which saw that George Bush as the worst President of the United States ... the Americans with a resounding majority said 'No' very clearly to the faces of those around the world who hated Bush and the politics of the neo-conservatives."
On the page next to Fandy's article was a caricature of elections in the West and the Arab world. Half of the picture showed Western elections as being transparent and open, while in contrast the Arab half was pitch black, mourning the lack of democracy, perhaps.

Personally, i hope they are peeing blood.
All one has to do is look at a map to see how his strategy is working.
Israel, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Kuwait, Turkey, Libya, Jordan, Qatar, etc .
Syria, Iran and Saudi Arabia are getting squeezed.
Changing some of the chess pieces in this age-old battle could bring people to the table and work to bring peace to the region.
Let's be honest. Arabs was Arafat. Arafat is dead. Arabs are irrelevant now.
AMEN!!!!!!
What a great day for peace.
Now look at the map an consider the best Middle East countries within the Region.
Egypt: GNI per capita $1,470
Syria: GNI per capita $1,130
Iran: GNI per capita $1,720
Jordan: GNI per capita $1,720
Saudi Arabia: GNI per capita $8,530
Israel/Palestine: GNI per capita $16,020
The other countries GNI are not worth considering.

"Asharq Al Awsat, widely read by Arabs in and out side the region, subtly endorsed the re-election of Bush"
An endorsement by an Arab paper?
First time I've ever been uncomfortable with "W".
There are some Arabs and Muslims who actually want to see the terrorists gone as much as we do, or least within an order of magnitude. They may be a minority, but it's better to work with them than to assume that everyone over these hates us.
Certainly true. I saw the Gulf War up close and personal, in fact was with the 5th Marines when we went into Kuwait City. Most folks aren't all that much different than us. But their leaders, religious, political and media generally hate us.
Besides, my comment was tongue in cheek.
Message from Shiraz - "..most every young Iranian supports George Bush"*** The majority of Iranians inside Iran stand strongly behind President Bush while those ungrateful and those organizations with questionable ties with the Iranian government stand with the oppressors of the Iranian populace and John Kerry.
One young Iranian female in Shiraz eagerly told me to inform President Bush that "those who had visited Iran and spoken to the Iranian populace had consistently quoted our desire to support George W. Bush's efforts and show our solidarity with his unrelentess efforts for a free, democratic, Iran. We're quite aware, mainly due to the Internet and Satellite television that John Kerry and his supporters are apologists of the Iranian government and working to cut deals with the Iranian dictatorship.
Speaking for Iran's youth population, she addressed Mr. Kerry: "We refuse to be your paid-off pawns and we refuse to allow you to allow our slaughter for your selfish intentions in Iraq and Afghanistan.: We know the truth and the truth is that you, Mr. Kerry, are a great oppressor to our people and an enemy to a free Iran. Please let everyone know that most every young Iranian supports George Bush." ***
I don't suppose he considers that GHWB wasn't confronted with Arab terrorism inside the U.S.?
And if they think GWB is "viewed with much suspicion in the Arab world", they obviously don't know how much suspicion Muslim Arabs have been viewed with since 9/11 in the U.S., (particularly in the long waiting lines at airports).
Does it occur to them at all that the American public aren't put on alert watches because of murderous Hindus, Buddhists, Rastifarians, etc? Every terrorist attack around the world going in recent years has been the work of radical Muslims, and they need to recognize that and stop acting innocent.
Their reaction better be good, our commander in chief doesn't need a mandate to do what's right, but how much more will he be willing to do what's right with a mandate?
The spotlight is brightly trained on the Middle East.
The political landscape is changing. President Bush is right, freedom and democracy will change this region and make our children and grandchildren safer.
It would be negligent and derelict for our leadership - our president and congress - to ignore its effect on us.
An American majority united behind President Bush will have a sobering effect on our enemy, as well as a rallying effect on our allies, including those held captive by repressive regimes.
"...They all hate us anyhow. So let's drop the big one now!" - Randy Newman
My point exactly and that's why I posted the GNI data to supplement your map. Terrorism is caused by a similar mindset that creates Ghettos in America. The few want it to continue but the masses simply do not. I just can't understand why some people can't see that and only focus on the few "bad guys".
It's ripe for reform.
