LOS ANGELES — Explosives were looted from the Al-Qaqaa (search) ammunitions site in Iraq while outnumbered U.S. soldiers assigned to guard the materials watched helplessly, soldiers told the Los Angeles Times.
About a dozen U.S. troops were guarding the sprawling facility in the weeks after the April 2003 fall of Baghdad when Iraqi looters raided the site, the newspaper quoted a group of unidentified soldiers as saying. U.S. Army reservists and National Guardsmen witnessed the looting and some soldiers sent messages to commanders in Baghdad requesting help, but received no reply, they said.

Unfortunately, I read a report on the CNN website this AM:
The site was left guarded by less than 2 dozen lightly-armed US troops: mostly Guardsmen and Reservists.
They were "over-run" by looters,who had 100 trucks on hand,waiting to load up,and thousands of people. The troops called for backup and were pretty much ignored (there was a LOT else going on !).Our guys were reduced to filing reports.
They saw stuff-including bags of high explosives-being hauled out,but were pretty much helpless.
(It's no longer "an election issue",but it is not a story anyone can be comfortable with.)
Don't tell anyone. I got them hid in my basement...
And all soldiers wished to remain "nameless", wonder why that is... Could it be that Dan I'd Rather Not tell the truth was over there in disguise?
This is another GW hit piece by the left wing/maggot infested AP.
AP didn't have the guts to put their so called journalist's name on this attack on our warriors in Iraq.
Saddam never had WMDs.
Saddam wasn't a threat.
Saddam was a benevolent dictator who gave his citizens free health care and always recieved 99% of the vote.
