EXIT POLLSTERGEIST Tuesday's election was marked by some of the most outrageous spinning seen in recent years. "The level of disinformation out there early on was remarkable," says a Republican political consultant in Washington. "Both sides were doing it, but I have to say the Democrats and their operatives did a remarkable job of shaking things up."
Across D.C., consultants were emailing notices to their clients, both political and business, attempting to spin an election day that was barely hours old.

It's also interesting to read down and see that Thune's name is being rumored to replace Edward's on the Judiciary Committee.
I think Republicans in Democratic states went out and voted for Bush, even if they knew they were vastly outnumbered and couldn't gain some Electoral votes for Bush.
They knew the popular vote counted in the eyes of the press.
My wife and I voted for W here in Oregon, even though the polls showed there was no way we could win the state. On the positive side, The Oregonian quoted RNC officials as saying they played a con game here in Oregon with the Dems and forced the Dems to spend A LOT more money here than they had initially wanted to spend.
According to at least three sources... some of the "early polling numbers" were in fact direct reports from Kerry campaign or Democratic Party operatives on the ground...the numbers were packaged together so as to appear to be exit poll results. They were then scrubbed through several sources to land in the lap of sympathetic bloggers who these operatives believed would put the numbers up with little question.
If we could easily see it at the time, why didn't NRO and Drudge? Here is a post from me at the time:

This should drive the remaining liberals still breathing to pull the trigger.
Bloggers were being used by the Kerry campaign to pass on bogus numbers!! Obviously this was supposed to depress Republican turnout (which it didn't in the end) and cause despair among conservative bloggers and tv commentators (which it did). Posters here were reporting that Fox commentators looked like they were going to cry. Drudge and NRO were being used the most, and they should have known better after the 2000 exit numbers fiasco.
This is as big a scandal as the CBS Forgeries. This is the lowest of the low dirty pool. Good thing the Democratic Party got completely trashed.
