On the streets and in the gathering places of Iran, millions celebrated the re-election of President Bush with congratulations and discreet V for victory signs to each other.
The Student Movement Coordination Committe for Democracy in Iran (SMCCDI) Website reports that not just a few, but millions of Iranians hoping for reform in that country are excited about President Bush and his promises of democracy for the whole region.
However, SMCCDI reports, "As Iranians and especially the younger generations have become happy, those affiliated to the Islamic regime are seen deeply worried about their future." It says the ruling regime in Iran, and all of its lobbyists and apologists, spent piles of money hoping for a Bush defeat.
They even organized a celebration in Tehran of the day the American hostages were taken in Iran in 1979, but could only manage a "few thousand professional protesters" from a city of 12 million inhabitants.
The site reports, "commemoration of one of the main Islamist act (sic) of terror ecountered another massive popular rejection."
i hope they move fast over there, because we will have to bomb the reactors
Azadi ping
bump!
I smell freedoms fresh scent wafting towards the southeast of Iraq......
Let's hope Psy-ops is helping to work the ground game over there too.......
Wonder if Old Media will report it.
No but they reported the government sponsored and run anti-US demonstration.
That's right. I saw it in the news here. But I saw nothing about any pro-American celebrations. Scary, isn't it?
What is the best way to move this forward?
Invasion? We're stretched pretty thin right now. And there would be innocent deaths. Is this necessary? Can our aims be accomplished in another fashion?
Bomb their reactors? Not as simple now, they learned from the Israeli action and spread stuff out a lot more and hardened the sites. But I imagine there's still something we could do.
Fund or otherwise support internal groups? We definitely need to develop human intelligence assets on the ground in Iran, instead of depending so much on technological intelligence. The latter is still quite valuable, but nothing can replace boots on the ground.
Propaganda efforts (Radio Iran, TV Iran on satellite dishes, printed materials)?
I still say that we should do a massive drop of TV's, radios, satellite dishes, VCR/DVDs, Brittney Spears videos, etc.
How about 10,000,000 copies of the U.S. Constitution translated into Farsi? That's something we really COULD do.
We cannot GIVE freedom to the Iranian people. We CAN help them get it for themselves. But they will have to understand that they will have to do a lot of the dirty work themselves.
This is as true and real as G.W. and Laura having two beautiful daughters!
Future freedom ..............and, subsequently............world peace!
Pictures, Pictures!
I think the Iranians that long for freedom know that, sometime in the next 4 years, they will be able to free
themselves from the tyranny of the mullahs.
That obscene picture better be directed at Irans mullahs and not the majority of freedom loving Iranians that want to overthrow the Islamic tyranny!
American, not Israeli bombing of the Bushehr facilities can start the anti regime rioting followed by resistance bombing of government offices. Moral is once again high in Iran.
PS. Congratulations everyone.
