Rather is in DENIAL wherever he is.
Dan Rather is after all the CBS News anchor, no matter how you really feel about him!

no one's going to know when he dies...Palestinians have told the french they would need at least 72 hours before anyone could announce his death in order to make arraignments for the Palestinian leadership (much in fighting awaits)

No, the hospital did NOT say CBS was not dead.
Everyone knows better than that, anyway.

"Mr. Arafat is not dead," he said. "The clinical situation of the first few days following admission has become more complex."
It's much more nuanced than black and white. He's not actually dead, but he's not technically alive either. He's just SORT of dead in a MOSTLY dead way. Which means, as a prior poster noted, that he's PARTLY alive.

Dawn of the Dead
Arafat is going to show up at a shopping mall with a bunch of Palestinians screaming for blood. Never mind, they've already done that one to death.

Headline:
British Emissary Arafat is Living Dead! Palestinians About to Erupt in Internal Power Struggle! Europe in a Hysterical Panic!
"Palestinian Leader Yasser Arafat Dies" (Deutsche Welle)
'Arafat is not dead!'" (Independent, SA)
...payback for the headlines running about us in Britain very soon after the September Attacks.

"Christian Amanpour is deeply saddened." And so are Bill and Hitlery.

Sounds like the egyptian is
...only MOSTLY dead...
Go easy on the 'deeply saddened' - the W family used that phrase last Fall, I believe.

Dan Rather is still not ready to declare Arafat dead just yet. John Zogby says that Arafat is still alive, but his vital signs are trending downward.
