I am in Sonoma County, about an hour's drive north of San Francisco. The mood is not uniformly dark here, but it ain't pretty. I was due to go to a lunch today, and nearly cancelled since I was worried that things might be said which couldn't be taken back. At the last minute I did go to lunch, and found only two other members there, when we usually have six to eight. We three had a nice lunch, though we were all extremely careful not to get too deeply into the election, since they know I voted Bush and they voted sKerry. I anticipate 4 more years of pussyfootin' around, if I want to have any friends here ... sigh ....
But it's worth it to have GWB in office! :)
"if I want to have any friends here"
If they can't tolerate your political beliefs, are they your friends?
A general reply to the obvious attitude of the leftists described in this thread's article:
As conservatives, we should not only not confront or ridicule these people, but we must encourage them in their insane beliefs. The longer they honestly believe that anyone who disagrees with them only does so out of ignorance, the longer Republicans will remain in office.
It's the arrogance, stupid - to paraphrase the icon of Democratic election strategy.
This is one of the hallmarks of the "open minded" Left....they are perfectly friendly as long as you agree with them. This comes from having politics being their religion....it consumes every aspect of their lives, and can be compared to the notion of an Al-Queda member having a Jew as a friend...it's just not gonna happen (maybe a flawed analogy but I think you get my drift).
Actually, why don't you tell those folks that they should go to Afghannistan and try and liberalise the Aafghanis?
