I doubt we can replace Chaffe and Snowe with Republicans. :-P

There is a possibility for Michigan to beat Debbie Stabenow. They could run current Rep. Candice Miller. She won statewide 2x as Secretary of State. Rep. Miller is in the old seat of the pit yorkie, David Bonior.

I think we could get John Corzine. Maybe we can get Gov. Romney to run against Sen. Kennedy to take out the old man. I also would love to take out old man KKK Byrd.

She might leave two years early in order to concentrate on a 2008 presidential run.

Pataki has his sights on the Senate. I assume Lazio got 45% of the vote since Hitlery got 55%(I thought she did better than this). Pataki should be able to do better than Lazio since he is very popular in upstate NY.

Nelson of Fla needs to go - he tries to play it safe but he is a light weight-I think DAve Weldon can take him on- then Hilldebeast,Ted Kennedy, Corzine and Cantwell-

If Corzine doesn't run for the Senate, Al Leiter might want run for the seat if he decides to retire from the Mets after this year. But this is probably a long shot

Nelson of NE is definitely a candidate for a party switch. Otherwise he could be facing a very tough challenge from Governor Johanns who's going to decide on a run in the next few weeks. That would offset a defection from that panty waist Chafee.

What if Sarbanes retires and Michael Steele decides to run? What if Kennedy retires and Mitt Romney goes for it? What if Corzine goes for Governor, and Schundler goes for it?

Will Lugar, Lott run again? Frist isn't going to. So who will the GOP run in Tennessee?

Just a few thoughts.

Romney would be better as a Presidential candidate perhaps.

but I heard that Hutchison may run for Governor of Texas in the future.

The rumors are out there, but Perry looks like he is running for re-election, and Carole Keeton Rylander McClellan Strayhorn is gearing up for a nasty fight. I wouldn't be surprised to see Frost run for the Democrat nomination. Diversity didn't seem to work for the Dems last time.

The off-year for Talent is HUGH. He's not quite strong enough, yet for a presidential election year race.

Just bluster right now. No one leaves to join the minority party.

It is probably true that Chafee could win more easily in 2006 as a Democrat. I think he may well switch, like Ralph Hall, D-TX, was "forced" to do in January.

If Hutchison runs for governor, many think that Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, who is all over the air with PSAs on education, will seek Hutchison's Senate seat.

Also Sen. Jim Talent, R-MO, is up in 2006. Elected in 2002 initially, he won a four-year unexpired term.

NO, Strom Thurmond left the majority Democrats in 1964 to become a minority Republican UNTIL 1981.

I also would love to take out old man KKK Byrd.

Twice the people of WV have defied the odds and upset Robert C. Byrd by voting for GWB for President. They would never go so far as to retire Robert C. Byrd. He is the "Mount Rushmore" of WV.

If the rumors are true and some of W's cabinet members retire their replacements could be qualified Senators from states with GOP governors so that governor can replace them with a Pubbie as Senator. Not sure who they could be- anyone know?
