Election So Smooth, Michael Moore Packs Up, Leaves
Few Problems Reported, Turnout 'Amazing'
UPDATED: 11:29 pm EST November 2, 2004
MIAMI -- In what Gov. Jeb Bush interpreted as a positive comment on a smooth Election Day, filmmaker Michael Moore, in South Florida on the lookout for election problems, packed up his crew and headed to Ohio Tuesday afternoon.
The turnout for voting was being called "amazing" by some of those manning the polls in South Florida.
In Broward County, the number of people who voted Tuesday is expected to exceed the 66 percent who voted in the 2000, perhaps by a large amount. In Broward County, 96,000 cast absentee ballots, while another 172,000 voted early.
In some locations, there were still lines at polling places, but at most precincts the wait was less than a half an hour by noon, with some locations having no wait at all.
Gov. Bush said there were rumors of a few problems, but as of late afternoon, he said, "So far, so good."
Miami-Dade County
Miami-Dade County election officials said they "couldn't be happier" about the way that the voting process went all day.
Voters turned out in record numbers, with as many as 72 percent of Miami-Dade voters casting a ballot. That in addition to 91,000 who cast absentee ballots, and 244,000 who voted early.
Officials reminded voters who waited till the end of the day that anyone in line at 7 p.m. at a polling place would be allowed to vote, no matter how long the line is. That proved to extend the voting day for hours at one Coral Gables precincts. Dozens of voters, most of them University of Miami students, made it into the line before 7 p.m. But the precinct has only five voting machines, so more than four hours later, many voters were still waiting.
Broward County
In Broward County -- infamous for its problems in 2000 -- all 777 precincts opened on time, and overall, few problems were reported. In Fort Lauderdale, a canvassing board was reviewing some absentee ballots, but so far, reported no discrepancies.
Did anyone notice we weren't attacked by the terrorists????
I'm sure the Dems were praying....oh wait! They don't believe in that....
Michael Moore is laughing all the way to the bank. He took $120M from the liberal moroons. Useful idiots if you will. I doubt he is losing sleep over the Bush win.
He went to Cuba to cry on Uncle Fidels shoulder.
If Pres Bush stole the election in Florida in 2000, as the liberals like to say, why is it that Floridians gave him a victory this election? Wouldn't they be eager to vindicate themselves?
More proof of MSM and democrat propaganda and lies.
He must be munching on the 99 cents lunch special at Burger King.
In addition to his crew, he packed up two tractor trailer loads of food, enough to sustain him on the long trek to Ohio.
So Florida gets rid of its punch card voting and Pres. Bush wins by 5%. Makes you wonder what the legitimate vote totals were in 2000.
Any way we can turn this phat pH#ck on Europe?
I mean get him to start ripping the socialist?
I know he is not turnable but just think if we could give the europeans a taste of that
You Said: Michael Moore is laughing all the way to the bank. He took $120M from the liberal moroons. Useful idiots if you will. I doubt he is losing sleep over the Bush win.
I agree and in fact think he wanted Bush to win, after all think of all the money he can make with an endless stream of "Hate Bush" movies. This pig is going to be wallowing in liberal money till the day he dies. And of course as fat as he is that cannot be too far off.
And one more thing, as I live in FL. I say to you the waddling hog beast, BUH BY! Don't come back ya hear!
Now, if the sorry shill would only pack up and leave the US and take his Socialist friends with him....
agreed, Moore is using the Left to make him a very rich bastard. And they just don't see it.
Unfortunately, the DIMS of the left think "rich bastard" = moral person with leadership ability.
The socialist UN election observers aren't going to have any juicy tidbits to bring back home. Instead, the US has showed the world how it's done.
