All of a sudden I am remembering something about a lighthouse that had been closed up and a security guard reported seeing some strangers there. Was it off the coast of Maine or was it Rhode Island? There is an association between terrorism and an island on the east coast that had been considered abandoned. Does anyone else remember?

I was the one tracking those lighthouse incidents at the time. Probably about 10 threads ago. The first incident revolved around the Pomham Lighthouse in RI. A woman reported suspicious men trying to break into the closed lighthouse. Shortly thereafter, some ME men found themselves lost on the Narragansset. They called for emergency assistance and stated their location as near the Pomham Lighthouse. Funny thing is they were..way...south of the lighthouse. There were a few other suspicious incidents in the RI area.

Some lighthouses have been sold to the public...

Lighthouses for Sale?

The National Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act (NHLPA) of 2000 authorizes the disposal of lighthouses and stations in addition to establishing a national lighthouse preservation program. These properties may be transferred to federal agencies, state and local governments, nonprofit corporations and community development organizations at no cost for park and recreation, cultural and historic, and educational use through a competitive, merit-based application process. If no acceptable steward is found, the act authorizes the competitive public sale of the property.
