Well, I can't find my old yellowed clipping about the baroness or countess or princess who donated and fundraised heavily to the Suffolk County GOP in recent times. I have thrown much out in the past few years from my old files. I also did some searching online and still have not found it. I cannot remember her name...Nadya...Ludmilla...Vladimilla....ug. If I remember it, I will post it.
But I did find this tidbit below which is also interesting to me as an LIer. So there are/were more than one private estates here inhabited by Russians, some with close ties to the Red Soviet Union. Again, if I can find some more info on the Republican Russian princess here, I will post it.
I am certain this is the case throughout America...maybe in your backyard. Here is the brief article:

"It Happened on Long Island"

From Newsday:
1955: State Department Declares
Long Island Off-Limits to Soviets
In 1955, the State Department declared more than a quarter of the United States off-limits to Russian citizens after the Soviet government restricted travel by U.S. citizens within the USSR. The restricted areas included approximately 1,000 counties in 39 states, most of the Mexican border, and part of the Canadian border. Both Nassau and Suffolk Counties were pronounced out-of-bounds, except for the section surrounding Oyster Bay north of Northern Boulevard/Route 25A. In that area, the Russians owned two residences, Killenworth in Glen Cove and an estate in Brookville, which housed members of their United Nations delegation. Russian citizens automobile travel in Nassau County was restricted to Northern Boulevard. According to a Newsday article, a State Department spokesperson commented that there was no way to police the Russian citizens and that no penalties for violating the restrictions had been determined. The Russian residence, Killenworth, is shown here.

Nurse! What's this: submandibular lymph node?
Why spend time googling when we have an RN in the house!
Chocolate monkeys?
No thanks.
(Disclaimer: Not even with whipped cream.)
Smiling...
submandibular lymph node?
Lymph node located under your lower jaw. Typically swells on me when I get worn out, ever since I had mono in high school. It's my signal to take it easy.
Hi JP! The visit with son #1 and his wife went well. Son #2 and his family arrive later this month. My brother's fiance was admitted to ICU with an undiagnosed blood problem and horrific allergic reaction at the hospital that turned her skin bright red from head to toe. She was moved from ICU to step-down / private room. After two cat scans she is still undiagnosed and we have no idea of a potential release date.

Islamic humor - mostly sad attempts to make themselves and Islam more sympathetic through satire on our perceptions of it. So, they think that they can make us laugh about 9/11 without issuing some kind of denunciation of it? It was done in the name of Islam, along with thousands of other suicide/murders, and they want us to laugh it off?
I don't think so.
You have FReepmail
Thank you all4one for that summary.
Ditto.
You are all....always....kindly welcome. What good is info., if it is not shared and discussed!
"In 1982, former Glen Cove Mayor Alan Parente banned Russians from local beaches because he read they were using a weekend estate in Glen Cove, Killenworth, for electronic spying.
When Suozzi -who was mayor from 1973 to 1979 -returned to office in 1984, he lifted the ban. Suozzi was maligned by colleagues for his actions. Peter King, former Nassau County treasure, asked Suozzi in 1987 how his "Commie friends" were. He later said he was kidding, Newsday reported."
VENICE, Fla. - At a Veterans Day ceremony a week ago, Englewood kindergartner Kyle Frost proudly held a picture of his uncle, U.S. Marine Dale Burger Jr.
The picture appeared in the Herald-Tribune and was picked up by wire services used by news organizations across the country.
Monday, 5-year-old Kyle learned that he would never get to know his uncle beyond the solemn face in the photograph. Cpl. Dale Burger Jr., 21, a native of Maryland, was shot in the head and killed Sunday during combat against Iraqi insurgents in Al Anbar Province, which includes the war-torn cities of Fallujah and Ramadi.
When I told Kyle, he sort of understood, Lynn Frost, Burgers sister, said Tuesday. He said he wanted Dale to come back and play. Then Kyle just ran into the other room and cried."
Update - reportedly the truck was taken from Sprague, Washington and contained 1,000 gallons of anhydrous ammonia.
