Put info and links about New Mexico here.
Population: 1,874,614 (2003 estimate)
Capitol: Santa Fe
Lots of early voting and absentee ballots here, but drove past a couple polling places this AM and turnout looked good. Also, worries about snow hurting turnout in SE part of state didn't pan out. Not enough accumulation to cause problems on roads.
"I voted this morning and discovered I now live in a homosexual enclave.
All mincing middle-aged guys with close-cropped hair, beards and mustaches with earrings and sensible shoes.
Lots of very masculine women with short hair, square jaws and scowls.
Then there was a morbidly obese welfare mother in front of me with her fat welfare child running around her furiously in an anti-clockwise direction.
I thought he was hyperactive until I realized he was simply trapped in orbit.
At least my neighbor and I cancelled out a couple of votes.
Blecchh--Kerry can have this country..."
It was awful in Placitas this morning.
I live in a "yellow dog" neighborhood and the activity at my poll has always told me what the day would bring.
In 1992, I stood in line for an hour,a lot of dem enthusiasm.
In 1996, short line ,but a lot of dem enthusiasm.
In 2000, it was packed ,but not a lot of enthusiasm.
2004 there is a low turnout today at my poll without the dem bullhorns.
Conclusion:Bush takes New Mexico,Bush wins popular vote!
I saw that on the board. Cheer up and don't let the idiots get you down.
Good to know, I was under the impression that the weather hadn't been that bad. Is it the mud?
Official language: Spanish
Snow packed & icy according to State Road conditions. Raton to Clayton road just reopened. But, even though the schools are closed, doesn't mean people won't vote.

Had snow in 2002 in the East Mountains, and there were lots of folks at the polling stations.
How is the weather there right now? I just saw a weather winter storm warning for that part of the state.
Just was advised you started this thread. Posted a weather update here:

Sorry
Sunshine and cool. We had about 1-2" inches of snow last night, but roads dry.
Thanks. Any comment about No. 14 above?
Voting this morning at 9:30 AM on the west side of Albuquerque revealed what appeared to me to be low turnout. My wife and I walked straight in and voted Republican and walked out. My daughter and her husband in Sandoval County are at this moment in the polling booths. Both are solid Republicans.

Nope, but Cedar Dave has things well in hand.
Thanks, Slim. Right now, just light flurries in Hobbs. Most of the storm is further north between here and Clovis. The figure in my other thread updates automatically and you can see the storm move to the east.
The good news, the storm in 2000 was much heavier, covered a wider area, and was colder. The fact that the schools are being let off is for bus safety -- none are four-wheel drive off course, and rural roads are slippery and in many cases unpaved.
