This seems to be the format everyone else is using as far as title.

I just got back from working the polls, and going to the county HQ to watch the results. I've been out manning the polls since 8:30 this morning. The turnout and response to our Republican sample ballots has been tremendous. I saw nothing obviously crooked at our precinct.

I can't wait to finally see the headline for our local congressional race:

Goode SMOKES Weed!!!! (62% to 38%)

We didn't see either of them at the party, but we bailed early - my feet feel like two bags of hamburger at the bottom of my legs.

Gotta love Virginia, though - even the people who said "No" to Bush flyers added "..thank you". Some outlanders were surprised to see the Kerry worker and me getting along, and I said "That's the way we do elections in Virginia - if everyone else did them this way, the country'd be a lot better off."

I was interested to see how many black people took Bush flyers & turned down the Kerry ones - ten percent easily. Many people took both, but you could see they were just being polite.

I'm on the other side of Broad St. off Pouncey Tract. At least Virginia doesn't appear to be wishy-washy about its choice.

Hi, Mud!

It was a great day at my precinct (10th, Loudoun, Blue Ridge Dist). I picked up a bunch of new volunteers for the future (poll workers and lawn signs) and had 3-4 people in every 1-hour shift all day long (in a small precinct with a little over 1,000 voters.)

Half of the registered (!) voters had voted my noon. Half of the actual voters had voted by 10 a.m.

Unlike the past 20 years, there was not huge 4-7 p.m. rush.

There was lots of encouragment from voters all day long.

The organization in the District and the County was excellent.

In my precinct, the Dems had inside observers and we did not. They were well organized this cycle and hope they are now disillusioned and heart-broken.

In Loudoun County, President Bush got 56-percent, Kerry 43-percent. Loudoun maintains its reputation as a stonghold of clear thinkers (but we have to work hard to educate newcomers from Fairfax!)

In the 10th District, Congressman Wolf got 64-percent against the carpet bagging Hocus-Socos.

I thought about but didn't execute a neat plan:

Set up a table with Kerry literature and a sign that says, "Terrorists for Kerry."

Nobody stands at the table all day long, but on the table you put a folded card that says:

"We'll be back!"

That guy broke the law when he walked in the poll and used his cell phone. I do believe that use of cell phones by non electoral workers in a poll is illegal!
