Presidential candidate Senator John Kerry wins the election on Tuesday, he probably shouldn't invite AEROSMITH to play for him. Kerry wanted AEROSMITH to play the Democratic convention in Boston in late July, but the band was on tour in Japan, so frontman Steven Tyler said they'd play the inaugural if Kerry won. However, drummer Joey Kramer told Launch that there won't be any such appearances. "The band will not be performing for John Kerry. Unfortunately, he (Steven) volunteers his own services, and he volunteered the services of the band, but unfortunately at the time, I think he forgot to discuss it with the rest of us. And everybody has their views and feelings politically obviously, we don't all agree and so, you know, we couldn't come to a, a decision, and so it was decided not to get done."

From the Washington Times:
Other performers in President Bush's corner include musical performers Lynyrd Skynyrd, Chaka Khan, Kid Rock, Ricky Martin, Lee Greenwood, Britney Spears and Steven Tyler.

Their last decent album, imo. .....over a quarter century ago.Further proof of my theory that once a band is on heroin or other narcotics, they'd better play it out till they OD because if they go clean, the music is going to suffer!

Cool, thanks. I was searching in Google News. I guess the RNC is ancient history already.

In the case of Aerosmith I'm not sure if the problem was heroin/narcotics, selling out to the MTV crowd, or just plain ole creative burnout. Whatever it was, 1974 and 1975 was their peak with Get Your Wings and Rocks. I saw them only once, on the Draw the Line tour in late '77 at the L.A. Forum, and was greatly disappointed. Short (a little over an hour) and uninspiring show. .......going through the motions.

I have seen this band 21 times...starting with the Draw The Line Tour.....couldn't hardly understand a song they played....sound system was horrible....I thought it was the coolest thing that I had ever seen!!
Having seen them 4 times this past tour Columbia SC, Pittsburgh Pa, Boston MA, and Atlantic City NJ.....I can tell you all this....The band has never looked or sounded as good as they do now!
They have got it down!

You must be thinking of the former Viking QB. Joey Kramer is Aerosmith's drummer.Ooops. I stand corrected.
Saw Aerosmith in 1977 with Nazareth at their peak.

So did I, at the Baltimore Civic Center.
Opened up with Back in the Saddle, and brought down the house.

So did I, at the Baltimore Civic Center.Mine was on the 4th of July in Indy's Market Square Arena. There were bottle rockets going off across the arena for the entire show- one of my favorite concerts of all time.

Old percussionist joke goes:
A band director lost his cool as the drum line was continually interrupting rehearsal with their antics. He turned to them and yelled "you could give any monkey two sticks and you'd have a drummer". The drum captain then replied, "yeah, but if you took one stick away you would have a band director."
