My Son May be Dead
Posted on 11/01/2004 5:38:38 PM PST by american_ranger
Tomorrow I and my wife will vote for George W. Bush. Tonight, I heard on the radio that an Army soldier was killed in an ambush in southeast Afghanistan. My son is stationed in southeast Afghanistan. I checked Fox news and they have an article about a US soldier killed and two wounded in a patrol near Orgun. My son is on a patrol near Orgun. I do not care if it is him, tomorrow we will still vote for Bush. God bless America and God bless President Bush.
I have not told my wife. She is worried enough that Kerry might win. She does not need this additional worry.

I will say a prayer for the American ranger family. I will ask the Lord for comfort in your waiting, and for the safety of your son.

God bless, and deepest thanks for your family's sacrifice whether it is the ultimate or (very hopefully) not, and the sacrifices of all our military families.

My very kindest and most hopeful thoughts are with you, sir. Thanks for the brave and sharing post.

I served in a unit in Vietnam much like your son's, although I expect the Rangers today have much better all round training than we did. Please except the prayers of myself and my family. I know words are small comfort in this time of worry. God Bless you.

Oh my dear man, you must be very brave to be carrying the burden of this alone in order to protect your wife's feelings. My prayers go out to you, your wife, and that your brave son is safe. Prayers for all who have served, and are serving. I work as a civilian on a military base. Each day I am impressed with the character and courage of our service members. They are shining examples of all that is good in America. It is to you that we owe the privilege of expressing ourselves on boards like this. Thanks for your faith in our President. He will not let you or us down.
I salute you and your family, Sir. May God Bless and keep you all safe.

Prayers for you and your family, that you have the comfort that only belief and the power the Holy Spirit can bring.
As humans, we like to "connect" otherwise disconnected things, sports event outcomes predicting elections; personal events overwhelming calculated voting decisions, etc.
I think that is part of the price we pay for being human, for having the powers of reason and free choice. Do what you can, do what you must, and trust in the Lord to take care of "the big stuff."
