[me]You cannot cite any law specifically that Kerry was in violation of.

Sorry to hear about your sudden case of vision loss. [A better assumption than you have no integrity.]

About the response I would expect when you cannot cite any law.

It is enough that we conservatives gave Kerry the bird, which he will carry for the rest of his unnatural life.

Duckhunters on the website the Duckhunter's Refuge pointed out this was a violation of federal law, it involved not "maintaining field possession" of the game.

Posters on this website have pointed out that Arafat died, Kerry was going to take Florida, Rove is an idiot, marijuana cures cancer and improves driving skills, heroin improves heart surgeons performace, Elvis is alive ...

There is nor record of him posessing a Duck Stamp either.

Probably a more severe offense.

When I was growing up (long, long ago), my father and grandfather taught me, my brother and several cousins to hunt small game. One of the points impressed on us was that each should carry his own game so that no inadvertant violations would take place. I have not hunted for many years, but I always thought every hunter was taught this. I'm amazed at the response to the Kerry story!

Your absolutley right, this is total Bull Crap...

I have never seen this law, or heard of this law, and I have hunted both state and federal land for years.

I have been stopped and checked thousands of times over the years. If this is a law, I have violated it as many times in the presence of a Federal Warden, and never once been reminded of it, cited it, or given a citation for it.

As is the case more often than not, one person is usually packing out the birds, the other the decoys, and still another the back packs full of ammo, trash, etc.

Sometimes we even let the dog carry a bird part of the way back...cause thats what theylove to do.

Once again, back in camp on a Federal Refuge, all of the birds are on one strap, hanging on one truck...and the Feds never say a thing, and never hassle us.

Enough of this bullcrap

Yes. I am amazed that so many will believe what they read on the web posted by some guy that reads some post on another forum and CANNOT cite any law.

Let's try this again. I read the post on another forum. I went to the head waterfowl biologist for the state of Illinois and he states it is a fact. I post it here as a fact. Some here don't believe me, so I go back to him and get the citations of the specific regulations (message #35). Another user here checks those citations and prints out the regulations (message #37).

And yet you continue on in denial? I apologize for assuming your problem was a loss of vision. It is so clear now that your problem goes much deeper than that.

The letter of the law states that a hunter must maintain field possession of the game that s/he kills. A hunter is not allowed to hand off his or her birds without first properly tagging them that s/he killed them.

50 CFR 20.25 Wanton waste of migratory game birds.

No person shall kill or cripple any migratory game bird pursuant to this part without making a reasonable effort to retrieve the bird, and retain it in his actual custody, at the place where taken or between that place and either (a) his automobile or principal means of land transportation; or (b) his personal abode or temporary or transient place of lodging; or (c) a migratory bird preservation facility; or (d) a post office; or (e) a common carrier facility.

See also -- "Custody of Birds of Another", 50 CFR 20.37. especially. Also note the gift, (50 CFR 20.40) and tagging (50 CFR 20.36) sections.

Nonetheless, it is the law.

Once again, back in camp on a Federal Refuge, all of the birds are on one strap, hanging on one truck...

That is another violation of the law called "pooling" birds. These laws are created so that game wardens can enforce the laws. If you pool your game, the wardens have no way of knowing who killed how many. That is why it is against the law. When you pool birds, EVERYONE in the hunting party gets a ticket.

and the Feds never say a thing, and never hassle us.

Nonetheless, it is the law. Which refuge do you hunt? I suspect what you are refering to as "feds" are not "game wardens" (conservation police, etc.) but rather site employees. That would explain why they aren't saying anything.

Sacramento, Delevan, Colusa eta al Butte Sink...

After 30 years I think I know what the hell a warden looks like.

There is no law against one hunter carrying out anothers game, as long as the other hunter remains with the first hunter...

Trust me buddy. Your grabbing at straws.

I suppose its illegal for on hunter in a party to do all of the plucking and cleaning too?

Hunt much?

You have a short memory. Go here -- http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1252829/posts?page=101#101

You are the same guy who claimed that there is no such thing as tags for waterfowl, that the USFWS is called the NFWS, etc.

Pooling birds IS against the law. Look it up for yourself, ignorance is no excuse.

Oh, and you're welcome.
