France: No Class, No Honor

We have been reminded that France is not to be trusted at any time, on any issue. The British have learned this over 1,000 years of acrimonious history, but it still comes as a shock to see how badly the French can behave, with their unique mixture of shortsighted selfishness, long-term irresponsibility, impudent humbug and sheer malice. Americans are still finding out--the hard way--that loyalty, gratitude, comradeship and respect for treaty obligations are qualities never exhibited by French governments. All they recognize are interests, real or imaginary. French support always has to be bought. What the Americans and British now have to decide is whether formal alliances that include France as a major partner are worth anything at all, or if they are an actual encumbrance in times of danger.

We also have to decide whether France should be allowed to remain as a permanent member of the U.N. Security Council, with veto power, or whether it should be replaced by a more suitable power, such as India. Linked to this is the question of whether France can be trusted as a nuclear power. The French have certainly sold nuclear technology to rogue states in the past, Iraq among them. In view of France's attempts to sabotage America's vigorous campaign to halt the spread of weapons of mass destruction, we need to be sure that France is not planning to cover the cost of its flagging nuclear weapons program by selling secrets to unruly states. Certainly Anglo-American surveillance of French activities in this murky area must be intensified.

I think Japan would be an even better choice than India.

The British have learned this over 1,000 years of acrimonious history

Before the country lost its way in bloody Revolution - France was a GREAT nation, and a great defender of Christendom. But their Revolution literally was an attack on the God embodied in the founding documents of the US.

The JP Jones, and Lafayettes, etc. LEARNED NOTHING! And France is still suffering the effect.

Hello, I'm french and I agree entirely with you. I sincerely hope that France will be replaced by India (so I thought years ago).France is now a pagan land. There is no longer liberty here. Pro-life people are hated, and I know what I'm saying, you can believe me. But, if I dare, just one point : there are very very few of us, catholics pro-life, who love the United States of America. Certainly a very little percentage, but we do exist and we pray every day for your blessed Country and for the re-election of the President Bush. God bless Bush. God bless you. God Will Bless United States Heart !

Actually, we should decide if WE are to remain a member of the United Nations.

If we leave the UN, the problem with France on the UNSC becomes moot.

France needs to be removed from anything that involves security other than their own.

The passage you have posted is a part of one of Paul Johnson's columns in Forbes. If anyone wants to read the entire piece, which I highly recommend, they can click here:

I AM FRENCH AND I AGREE WITH YOU
France have a big problem,an old problem with her own history(Religious wars,Revolution and Terror,Bonapartism, antireligious laws...).
FRANCE feels bad and doesn't know who she is in a wide part of the opinion.Recently CHIRAC tried to cancel Judeo-Christian roots of Europe in the text of EUROPEAN CONSTITUTION.There is no mention of christianism in European Const. because of CHIRAC(with the agreement of Socialists)
I am not a fanatic pro-life even being,I hope,christian but I support BUSH for his honesty,bravery,moral values(defense of mariage),his faith in FREEDOM.
May be i am a french "liberal-conservative" supporting BUSH

Thank you for posting that information. I would love to see the entire thing.

I have always loved France and the French people -- so it hurta lot to experience major rejection from President Jacque Chiraq and the French government when we've come through for them. I sometimes believe that it's a few of the French leaders, and not the majority of the French people there who hate Americans. I hope I am correct and that this is not just wishful thinking on my part.
