Forget the old North-South split -- recent polling is reinforcing the notion that the new fault line in California politics is inland vs. the coast.
"And it's a phenomenon that may be with us for some time,'' said Field Poll director Mark DiCamillo.

Some interesting info in the Propositions if you read the whole article.
President Bush leads by 20 points in the "REAL" California!
We should split the state right down the middle with a left california and a right california. Let the coastal dwellers live their socialist lives.
It's the San Andreas's fault.
Along HWY-99 there were BUSH signs, BIG ONES, all along the freeway about every 1/4 mile, for 150 miles. There were NO Kerry signs.
In Fresno there were NO bumper stickers an ANY cars, except for a few BUSH stickers.
In the streets of Fresno there were those BIG BUSH banners out front of businesses all through town.
I live in Ventura County. There are BUSH signs along almost all the roads throughout the county. If one is taken down by a demented DEM, it is back up within minutes. I have NEVER seen the Republicans so energized in California (been here 50 years).
I went to a BUSH rally last weekend in front of the County Government Center (honk for BUSH). Cars were honking for BUSH all day long. We only had a few "thumbs down".
I heard that BUSH was only down by about 6 points in the polls in California. It may be less than that.
California has 55 Electoral Votes. It would be GREAT if California went for BUSH while the DEMS in California were asleep.
HAWAII is leaning BUSH, why not California?
.
I pray that many here in the Bay Area and on the coast in CA, vote for Bush and that the libs will wonder what the heck went wrong.
Because of San Francisco and Los Angeles.
I live in Reedley, a small town about twenty miles southeast of Fresno. Living around here you'd think that Bush had CA in the bag. Unfortunately I ran into another Bay Area transfer (I moved here from the San Ramon Valley in 1997) and reality hit me like a brick. This guy was so liberal he makes Michael Moore look like WFB. There really is a strong cultural gap between the mega-cities and the Central Valley. If we could we would break away from the rest of the state in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, it'll never happen.

Article says that these two counties are becoming more moderate, but they're STILL conservative. I live here, BTW.
I'm sure this will turn into another "let them slip into the ocean" thread, though.
All the inland counties in California are very conservative. The coastal areas are very left, like San Francisco, Los Angeles, and coastal Northern California.
Hey!! Stop that! SLO county always goes blue (Pubbie). Ventura county as well.
That is the most positive comment about Calif I've read in a long time. It seems that a 3 billion dollar tax, to kill, might have some negative votes especially in the religous community and that added to YOUR POSITIVE attitude COULD lead to a WIN. Hope you are right. Thanks for the update.
Ping and Remember to VOTE!
Regarding the story above. This is old news. California has long been divided inland vs. coastal. On Tuesday every county except the ones around San Francisco and LA will go for Bush.
