Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger says he would be interested in running for president if the Constitution were amended to allow foreign-born citizens to seek the nation's highest office. Four words: OVER MY DEAD BODY.
First off, Schwarzenegger is nothing but a Kennedy with an 'R' by his name.
Secondly, the job of the President and Vice President is one position that we can never afford to outsource to foreigners. PERIOD.

"What if" he got two-thirds votes in both houses of Congress and ratification from 38 states?
Loved his convention speech - but I could think of about a dozen other people I'd rather see get the Republican nomination in 2008.

No way. He may be a good guy but no foriegn born person should be allowed to run for President ever. Hell you can't even count on the loyalty of sKerry to the United States and he was born here.

Don't even think about it, Arnie. If you think we're going to sit down and allow the Constitution to be altered so a foreign national can run for office, you're sadly mistaken.

Yeah, lets change the constitution and let foreign born citizens run for president. Then when someone like Zarquawi moves here, lays low for twenty or so years, and runs for president, he just may win and hand over our sovereignty to a group like the U.N.
The previous scenario is exactly why it should not ever happen. I wasn't even born in Scotland (born here). But being ethnically Scottish gives me a great amount of bias toward Scotland and their people. Just think how I would feel if I were born there became president and could affect foreign policy in their favor to the degredation of this country. Thanks to the founding fathers for their forsight.

Arnold, don't worry about the birthplace/constitution thing. Just start saying you were born in the USA. Eventually about half the people will believe you.
Seriously, if Kerry can be a "war hero", you can be born in Iowa.

Lordie, I can think of a bunch of other ways I'd rather amend the Constitution before I got to that one! I voted for the Governator here in CA, but the office of President is different. As has been pointed out, our forefathers had a darned good reason for setting it up the way they did. I've managed to hang on to a few grudges for 20 years ... I can easily imagine that a Manchurian candidate could hang onto a determination for 20 or 30 years. Sorry, Ahnold my bud, but no way.

No amendment necessary! If Arnie wants to be president, let him go back to Austria and convince them to join the United States Of America as a new state. He would then be considered native born. If he's the leader he thinks he is, that's the ticket.
Hatch shouldn't be on the Senate Judiciary if he won't uphold the Constitution. He's a conservative Republican like Earl Warren was.
