Has anyone heard of this one?

The fellow soldier rapist curse!

Any soldier who has ever called his fellow soldiers, rapist and murderers during wartime, has never won the presidency!

I believe this curse is alive since the beginning of time!

Liquor stores in most swing states are closed on election day by state edict.

We are fore-casted for torrential rain here in OK. Hoping it depresses the Carson vote.

Those who look for these coincidental occurrences had to go to "home game" victories to find this mystical relationship. Apparently no team has won or lost games before the election which would have been even more definative. I'm proud that the Packers will be the team to help dispell this illogical musing.

Yeah, you are right -- usually, they are shot by a firing squad for treason.

Do what I do -- turn off the lights and eat the candy.

I love how the media keeps 'touting' this myth, especially since it was changed eight years ago to the 'home' game from the 'last' game.

And, of course, the President has his own indicator: The Lakers in basketball. If the Lakers are in the finals during an election year, the Republican always wins.

Bet you won't hear THAT one from the media for the next two days.

But then on Friday, James Taranto had this to say: (Read OpinionJournal.com daily and you'll be ahead of the crowd.)

"It turns out the source on which we relied for "Redskins rule" got it wrong: The rule posits a correlation between the Washington Redskins' last home game before a presidential election and the election's outcome, not the last game. The 1996 loss to the Bills that we cited yesterday was a road game, so it doesn't count.

Well, fair enough. But what isn't as widely known is that the Redskins haven't played in Washington since 1996, when they began playing "home" games in Maryland. The team played its last true home game Dec. 22, 1996, beating the Dallas Cowboys 37-10. If the Redskins rule--victory means a win for the incumbent party--applied, Al Gore would now be president.

The inescapable conclusion is that the Redskins rule doesn't predict the actual election, only the popular vote."

So information gets spread around, nobody bothers to check it out and disprove it, and nothing gets corrected until one week later. This is just so annoying.

If the Texans win their last game before the election, and one of the candidates is a Texan, he wins. Hasn't failed yet.

Well, it looks like the Dems can stay home and relax now - they've got it in the bag. It's guaranteed that Kerry will win, so they may as well stay our of the rain and long lines.
