"And I just want to add that you did a great job in the World Series! I understand Kerry is already saying how he gave "New England Crimson Socks slugger Manny Ortiz some batting tips.""

Thanks. But I got a lot of help from Eddie Yost, don't forget.

The whole thing reminded me of running the Boston Marathon with JFK all those times. I can't believe he forgot to register and get a number. But he's a forgetful guy.

"I don't know if Hitler considered the priesthood or not."

Stalin did. Saw it on the History Channel. Russian Orthodox. His mom's influence.

Stalin attended Orthodox seminary, where he received a stipend for singing in the choir. I haven't seen evidence he was an altar boy, though.

Hitler and Kerry were not only both former altar boys but former altar boys who were opposed by the church.

Not quite. Hitler was one of the most vile, evil, anti-Semetic tyrants in World History--but he wasn't a blithering idiot like Johnny boy. Kerry has the motives and morals (actually a lack thereof) to be a Hitler, but he's simply not smart enough, and he has ZERO the charisma that Hitler used to subjugate Germany.

sKerry's an Englebert Dolfuss at best.

"I was an altar boy" is about lamest claim to virtue there ever was.

Surpassed only by the insolence an American traitor claiming to be a Vietnam war hero and fit to be our country's President and Commander in Chief.

I agree, except for when he said in the third debate that he went to CHURCH SCHOOL!

LOL!

I noticed that. He just couldn't call it a Catholic School.
Very telling.

Hitler was also a war hero, and won a few medals.

Towards the end of his life Napoleon was asked which had been the happiest day of his life. The questioner expected him to recollect one of his great military triumphs or his coronation as Emperor, but Napoleon replied,
"The happiest day of my life was my First Holy Communion day."

"Why don't we leave the Hitlerian analogies to the DUmmies?"

...because they are all too appropriate for Kerry, and we at FR do not succumb to your casuistry.

So was I. Then, after 2000 years, they jettison the Latin Mass and go to English...after memorizing the "sushipiot" (sp) for crying out loud..and they wonder why I have flirted with agnosticism.

As a Republican Jew, ...

As a conservative Catholic (one who trains altar boys BTW) I'm with ya.

Later in life, Hitler told someone in public (one of his generals, IIRC?) something to the effect that he was Catholic and always would be.

No, Speer reports in Inside the Third Reich that Hitler said he still considered himself a member of "the church" (it doesn't use the word "Catholic") and intended to remain so -- a vague statement filtered through Speer's memory.

The facts are that no evidence can be shown that Hitler practiced Catholicism after his mid-teens. Further, WRT his excommunication, his own acts excommunicated him. As an example, canon law provided for automatic excommunication for a violent attack against a priest or religious. Hundreds of priests in Poland and elsewhere were murdered at the hands of Hitler's minions.
