In an investigative study of the Federal Election Commission's database published last week, the Indianapolis Star found that only 31 current athletes and coaches out of a pool of approximately 4,300 contributed to a political campaign over the past year. Leagues included in the study were Major League Baseball, the NBA, NHL, NFL and WNBA, in addition to the top-50 ranked competitors in NASCAR, the IRL, PGA, Champions Tour and LPGA. Of the 31 contributors, 23 sent money to George W. Bush, including a $2,000 check from Peyton Manning. No one contributed to Kerry, though another eight - including former Celtics coach Jim O'Brien [news] ($1,000) and Pacers coach Rick Carlisle ($2,000), supported the Democratic primary campaign of Kerry's running mate - Senator John Edwards.

Peyton, not Payton. Sorry for the typo.

peyton manning is a bush supporter too :)
Peyton is the man!! Another reason I am proud to be a Colts fan, to go from the bad old days of Jeff George to this (despite that ugly game going on right now).
