In front of a large and highly energized crowd, President Bush announced his intention for the United States to bring freedom to the people of Cuba. The President promised to bring pressure to bear in order to ensure that every Cuban has the same freedoms as all Americans. The President's unexpected assertion was welcomed by a large crowd of supporters in a hugely resounding and highly energized way. The response of the largely Cuban-American crowd to the President's declaration of freedom for Cuba culminated with of those in attendance spontaneously and excitedly leaping to their feet and cheering very loudly and repetitively "Viva Bush, Viva Bush, Viva Bush"!!!
The President was obviously moved by the outpouring of support, so much so that when he did respond, he did so in spanish. The President asked for each person in attendance to go to the polls and cast their vote for Bush-Cheney. The President then stated also in spanish that he needed the help of everyone there in attendance and he thanked them for coming.
The decision to publically announce the President's intention to bring pressures to bear to bring freedom to Cuban citizens at this exact moment when he and Senator Kerry are enjoying alot of free cable news coverage was really brilliant on someone's part in the Bush Campaign. It was clear that a consequence of the President's plan to bring freedom to Cuba would go a long way toward fostering goodwill for the President in Cuban-American communities everywhere. !Viva Bush!

Brilliant move especially when Kerry hired the Lawyer that sent Elian back to Cuba...
I think you're about right...
My little brown ones bring me the greatest joy I have ever known and I am sure the Bushes enjoy theirs in a like manner, too!:-) I heard last week that GHW Bush is a good man and the apple don't fall far from the tree...
A President who doesn't have the need to micromanage everything can indeed do more than one thing at a time.
In the case of Cuba, it seems that economic policies would be more effective than military might. What we've done so far is half-hearted - can't offend anyone, y'know. Maybe just enforcing the laws already enacted would do it.
There are plenty of Cubans ready to help.
So are Americans (to those who mangle English). On the other hand, Brits are quite nasty.

I've heard that he has a good grasp of the common man's Spanish, which he picked up in the oil patch when he was a young man. I imagine that when he was drinking, he put away some cerveza with the muchachos. I don't know whether the Cuba comment was planned, but in light of Castro's illness, it makes sense. Cuba is ready for a change. Bush may not have to exert the country much militarily to bring Havana into the National League. (This is good news for the Yankees. Maybe they can get a left handed pitcher out of this.)
It is my understanding since 2000, that GWB is fluent in the Mexican language as it is spoken in east Texas and along the Rio Grande. As Governor of Texas I am sure "W" needed to know the "first language" of many of the people whom he served while in that office.
George W. Bush is a TRUE patriot. He is the grandson of a United States senator (raised in Columbus, OHIO!), the son of a CIA Director, Vice President, and President of the United States, the brother of a Governor of a major U.S. state, a former Governor of a major U.S. state and soon-to-be TWO-TERM President of the United States himself!
Is it even POSSIBLE for an American President to be MORE PATRIOTIC than this? NO!
!VIVA BUSH! !Viva Bush! !Viva Bush!
Re-elect Bush-Cheney on Tuesday!!!
Ah, we as Republicans may wish to see Daschle's re-election dashed (which will happen because the Clintonistas have decreed that it should be so) but when this comes to pass might not Hitlery conveniently be named Daschle's political heir in the Senate?
Post 87: LOL
IMHO, Pres. Bush is not pandering to Cuban-American voters in Miami, Florida when he promises to pressure Cuba into extending American civil liberties to Cuban citizens. He is simply looking ahead.
Remember, communist dictator Fidel Castro just happened to take an especially nasty fall off of a step the other day. In that fall, the (approx.) 75-year-old Castro shattered one of his knees and broke an arm. It will be difficult for him to get around for some time and he will undoubtedly require an artificial knee replacement. When elderly people fall, rarely are they ever as strong as they were before the fall again and, in fact, many begin a slow but steady physical and mental decline.
Pres. Bush is looking ahead and thinking that Fidel Castro will now have to give serious thought to propping up a successor. Pres. Bush knows this and he also knows that it is plausible that Castro would himself understand that it is in Cuba's best interest that America should be able to work with Castro's successor politically. It would also be in Cuba and America's combined interests for Cuba (a close neighbor geographically) to someday be under the military protection of the United States.
Castro loves his country and I believe that he might yearn to be remembered by his countrymen as a venerable old statesman rather than as a vicious dictator. And, let's face it communism isn't working Fidel! It's time to embark on a new political experiment and it's called capitalism, American style!
Viva Bush! Viva Bush! Viva Bush!
Go to htp://www.msnbc.com and locate the "Front Page" news section story entitled, "Countdown; Bush, Kerry Court Battleground Voters". Go to the second page of this article to find the part abut GWB, Cuba, and freedom for Cuban-Americans.
My thoughts exactly!
God Bless the United States of America and God Bless United States President George W. Bush!
"Oh, oh. I had two impressions when I read this story."
I had another impression, which is that intel says Castro is not long for this world. His fall last week may have been a symptom of an undisclosed illness--or did more internal damage than was reported.
Food for thought. If the "original" Cuban invasion (Bay of Pigs) HAD gone to completion and, thus, been successful, the American mafia (a.k.a. the Mob) would have lost out an unreal number of millions and millions of dollars that they were comfortably garnering from their many casinos in Havana, Cuba. As it was, the botched invasion and subsequent rise to power of the American-supported rebel leader, Fidel Castro, may well have precipitated JFK's assassination.
This is Hugh!!!!
Free Cuba!!
Free Elian!!
Wouldn't that be great if Bush liberated Cuba?
Hollywood including Oliver Stone would go crazy.....
Bad news for lying Liberals means good news for AMERICA!!!!
Imagine the criticism from the other Bolsheviks within. What would they say? "There was no Communism in Cuba!!"
"Castro gave his people FREE HEALTH CARE!!"
