BUSH HAS THE MO [KJL]
That's the GOP message tonight as they work to the ends of the continental U.S. and beyond--to Honolulu!! Bush/Cheney is confident this Saturday night. They believe these last days will prove they have made significant inroads throughout the U.S. at the grassroots level. Starting yesterday, 150,000 volunteers are working in the tightest states, contacting 18 million voters to get out the vote for W. They say theyve registered 3.4 million more Republicans since the last presidential election. That those GOTVers are volunteers, too, they say is significant.
In Florida aloneon Friday aloneGOP officials say volunteers knocked on 170,000 doors and made 200,000 calls. Though E Day they expect those numbers to hit 17,000 volunteers will 800,000 doors and 1.2 million calls. Just in Florida, a state where theyve been confident for more than a few days now. But its not lackluster in Ohio either. GOP officials are saying 14,000 volunteers will knock on 400,000 doors and make 990,000 calls.

See also "The Kerry Spot" at NRO for more inside info from the Bush team: http://www.nationalreview.com/kerry/kerryspot.asp
TO is right about the early voting being too hard to get a real sample from. But...exit polling of early voters in MI shows Bush up 15%.
If we get Michigan we probably don't need Florida...but those polls are probably worthless anyway, and might not even show the eventual winner, much less indicate his margin.
One last thing: I'll bet the greedy geezer condo crowd is doing most of the early voting in Florida (because the lines are shorter) and that's probably not as prevalent in Michigan.
The Bush "quit campaigning" complaints refer to his returning to Crawford the weekend before the election. He did rest some that weekend when perhaps he should have been in Florida.
But Monday Morning Quarterbacks have never been one of my favorite species. :)
NRO KERRY SPOT: The Word From A Highly-Placed Source (Bush Has 'Huge Lead In Florida')

Matthew Dowd had been on Hewitt's show a couple days earlier saying something similar, so that made me go "hmmmmmmmm". (Not that I think he's the Kerry Spot's source---no. Just the "inside info" seems to jive)
:)
They need something to talk about.
For now, the story is "how close the election is".
Once Bush wins a crushing victory, its going to be, "how did we miss Bush pulling away" or "look at the influence of the OBL tape" or "what did Kerry do wrong", etc.
Do you know what happened to Thomas Lipscomb? I had heard tnat he was supposed to be on Brit Hume's show Thursday night and he wasn't. Have you heard anything?
Gore was in Florida on Election Day. Michael "The Maggot" Moore even used footage from one of Gore's rallies that day in F911, implying that it was footage from Gore's HQ when Gore thought he'd won the Presidency.
Michael Moore will be Minister of Truth.
Bill Gertz on Rita Cosby NOw
I don't know and after watching Dick Cheney LIVE in Ohio today I switched away from cable news.

Shields is wrong (surprise! not).
I don't know the answer to your question, but I received an automated call today from Franklin Graham, Billy Graham's son that was very persuasive. He was talking about how important this election was for Christians. I think they knew that I was a Christian and weren't just calling the phone book.
Kerry would be the first President to die of starvation.
I agree...with one added point.
If Kerry's own polls show what I think they do, those reporters on the plane can sense it and see it on the faces of campaign insiders. If, as I suspect, their body language has been signalling bad news for several days...well, at some point someone is going to get embarassed with all the hyperbole and "whisper" the truth to a reporter.
Conversely, reporters on the Bush plane have reported nothing negative about the campaign aparatus or strategy...I think THEY know they're on the winning plane.
I agree. Election night will be short this year.
I'm pretty sure we'll be using one line from that song this time out: "Meet the new boss...same as the old boss!"
For those who are active churchgoers (or otherwise connected closely with a church), how active are the members in saying they will vote? This was a real problem in 2000.
From what I see I think our turnout should be good, though I do have one neighbor who feels the church needs to "stay above this" and that it "doesn't affect the church." Yes, the church is above this in a way, but "doesn't affect the church" ?!?. Wrong!
They will say that Karl Rove arranged for Bin Ladin to make the tape. Heck, Walter Cronkite is already saying that now.
Rita Cosby is showing Asnan the Terrorist's picture. It struck me that since this guy is supposely American, I wouldn't put is past Michael Moore to be directing this guy.
He certainly talks with the same hyperbole of a Moore movie.
Seriously, though, maybe the Bush campaign should float a "rumor" that they may be able to get this guy "soon" and this guy might let us know where Bin Ladin is.
And for 20 years in the Senate, he never acted like someone with ambition -- look at Biden, McCain, etc. -- you know these guys want more and they've been working on it. Outside of MA, who had heard of Kerry for 20 years?
BTW -- isn't this the longest he's gone since the start of the primaries without a few days off to rest?
Well, isn't Dukakis his mentor?
