Thank you. I hadn't heard this before. Lucky me. I work with conservatives and only have to contend with two liberals who are, sadly, related to me. They've never mentioned this. Maybe because we have not allowed a political discussion beyond "I know how you feel". How I'd love to drop a hammer on them....

I agree with you that the technical usage of the term is correct. However, it's been decades since Doolittle's Raiders, and the connotation everyone places on the word is all teensploitation movie now, ala "panty raid."

He could have called it a "annoyance," or a "perturbation," and been technically right, too, but the current connotation of those words, and this one, is what is galling, I think, to others.

Cronkite said he is "inclined to think that Karl Rove, the political manager at the White House, who is a very clever man, he probably set up bin Laden to this thing."

Uh huh....and I'm Michael Moore's illegitimate mother.

Senile dementia is very sad. His family should keep him out of the limelight now.

"those who conducted that raid"

Are dust. The entire fight has always been about killing those who agree with them. As for "raid", it is Bin Laden's favorite term for it - downright Koranic.

Again, the GOP should broadcast this silly "RAID" business. Hope they're reading tonight. BUMP!
