President Bush instructed top homeland and national security advisers on Saturday to "take all actions that might be necessary" to respond to the new message from Osama bin Laden, the White House said.
National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice was with the president in Columbus; other participants included Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge, CIA Director Porter Goss, deputy CIA director John McLaughlin, Attorney General John Ashcroft, FBI Director Robert Mueller and Rice counterterrorism deputy Fran Townsend.

What's disturbing is that he seems pretty well versed in American culture, and not just because he's obviously seen Michael Moron's film. If he is signaling another attack -- and he would need to do it through the media or back channel, because he doesn't contact sleeper cells directly -- then you have to wonder what kind of target he thinks will hurt Bush. A foreign but US-related target would be easiest to hit, but frankly I think we're going to see something in Florida, because it's a symbol and OBL even mentions Jeb in his tape. And let's not forget the Jewish population there and Osama's animosity to Jews. I'd urge anyone down there to take advantage of the early voting.
Not only do they not want to panic people, but they don't want to be accused of poloticising the threat. I'll be surprised if they raise the threat level.
I wonder if there was a direct threat to the President and his family? Yes, this tape should be of great concern, and Kerry's claims last night that this is proof Bush did a terrible job are despicable. I notice Lockhart on F&F this morning had ratcheted back that particular rhetoric, perhaps because their focus groups were as repulsed as dear hubby and I were.

Remember the recent other tape warning us about an attack that would dwarf 9-11 with "blood running on the streets".
Thanks for your info; I wasn't watching that. So you think Osama is diatribing against the Bush family in particular.....if so, the public has a right to know.
Regretfully, we really don't want the florida jewish voters to go to the polls at all since the vast majority are secular jews (jews by birth--don't seriously follow the Torah) and vote dem (that is, when they can figure out how to vote).

I think they don't want to air in, in case it contains specific coded messages to the terrorists.

Bush is between a rock and a hard place. If he raises the Threat Level he will be accused of being Political. If he doesn't, and we're attacked, he will be accused of not taking the threat seriously enough to warn the American People. I say...raise the Threat Level and let us be on guard!

In the video, aired Thursday night by FOX News, a man wearing dark glasses and an Arab headdress wrapped around his face claims to be an American member of Al Qaeda and promises attacks that will make the streets of America "run red with blood."
From the gestures and voice, Bundjaki told FOX outside his Garden Grove Mosque where Gadahn became a Muslim, "I believe it was Adam."
Some U.S. officials had already speculated that the voice might belong to Gadahn, who also goes by the names Adam Pearlman and Abu Suhayb Al-Amriki.
In May, the FBI announced that Gadahn had ties with senior Al Qaeda lieutenant Abu Zubaydah in Pakistan, and that he had attended terrorist training camps in Afghanistan and served as a translator for the terror network.
"The magnitude and ferocity of what is coming your way will make you forget all about September 11th,” the man calling himself "Azzam the American” says on the video. “After decades of American tyranny and oppression, now it's your turn to die. Allah willing, the streets of America will run red with blood, matching drop for drop the blood of America's victims.”
I agree with you. They should let us know.
People should understand the real dangers we are facing and really ask themselves whom do they trust to lead the country in such dangerous times.
