"Haven't found a link yet, but Christiane Amanpour on CNN just reported live by phone that Arafat has dementia and leukemia. She reported that the Arafat era is over. The dementia is so advanced, doctors say Arafat is no longer in controll of his faculties. Report was about 09:35 EDT, Sat. I'll come back and provide a link when I find one."

So who does Arafat's condition help???

Everyone and their sister. One less homicidal evil demented shoe scrapping in charge is always a good thing.

Will his successor be any better? Good question! But lacking arafat "mystic" he will be easier to remove if he proves to be more SSDD

I hear he has low platelets. With mental status changes/confusion, in addition to low platelets, Arafat may have a rare disease known as TTP (Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura). I bet he has the fever, renal failure, and microangiopathic anemia to complete the pentad required for the diagnosis of TTP, too. In which case he'll need plasmapheresis. Just my wild guess.

Do you remember when the news about Reagan's Alzheimer's was released and how, at the time, there was a lot of speculation and everyone in the MSM was "concerned" that he had it while in office and it had clouded his judgment? I wonder if this will be a topic for open discussion concerning the unrest in the middle east? Could Arafat's dementia (who, some speculate, he's had for over 10 years - just making this up but hey, if CBS can do it??) have anything to do with the fact that the PLO has been so erratic towards any and all Israeli / International attempts to find any solutions? Should the UN reconsider it's continual backing of the PLO over the years? And, what will happen to Arafat's Swiss accounts when he's gone? Inquiring minds want to know, so I guess none of this will never be on the "World News Tonight".

Leukemia in older people is difficult to treat. Luckily, for kids, the cure rate is almost 90%.

LOL....looked like arafat was going to take a bite out of the man's hand! The guy barely got his hand out of the way!

Too bad he didn't get that bite in, another terrorist down with AIDS would be fitting.

If he did go to France for the reason you said. It is all that much easier now for Mossad to take him out.

Last night, when they showed that video on Special Report, Brit Hume commented that the shot of Arafat had a "Weekend at Bernie's" quality about it. I almost fell off my chair laughing!!!

Ironic how the titans of terror are making the MSM headlines prior to the election: Castro's trip and fall, bin Laden's tape and now Arafat's illness (MSNBC covering from Paris now).

Always remember what Arafat is and was: a terrorist thug who plotted with Fidel Castro to destabilize democracy. The State Department published a brief in 1999 Cuba in the Middle East: A Brief Chronology

Arafat is a big time player in the WOT.

-"doctors say Arafat is no longer in controll of his faculties."-

This is gross, but I also hope he's pissing all over himself. The great news is, he'll get a face-to-face with the evil he's worshipped all these years before it's all over.

You said: the PLO did not know what to do. He had complete authority. This opens the door for new leadership which is hopefully more moderate in its positions.

OR it could be that there will be infighting among the PLO.

Did Arafat ever choose a successor? The PLO might fall apart and join one of the other terrorist organizations.

The PLO exists to create a Palestinian State using land belonging to Israel. This has always puzzled me. There's a lot of land in the Middle East. If the sympathizers wanted the PLO to have land to make a Country/State, why didn't the other Middle Eastern Countries donate land to them? Is it because then there would be no cause for all the anger directed towards Israel? Is it because the other Middle Eastern Countries don't want Israel 'at any cost' to have any land in the Middle East?

My slightly educated guess is that unless there is a very strong personality among the PLO, there's gonna be a lot of infighting and a lot of deaths (probably blamed on someone other than the PLO).

The MSNBC reporter admitted that the PLO will fall into anarchy and be taken over by warlords.

Arafat gave a criminal organization legitamacy with his power mad 'leadership'.
