Election: What do Bill Clinton and Mary Cheney have in common? Both have been exploited by the Kerry campaign to prevent a political sea change — George Bush being re-elected by the African-American vote.

When both John Edwards and John Kerry managed to slip in references to Mary Cheney's sexuality in the debates, most pundits assumed it was an attempt to drive a wedge between President Bush and his evangelical Christian base.

A few saw it for what it really was — an attempt to stem an exodus of socially conservative black voters away from Kerry and toward Bush on the issue of gay marriage.

[snip]

Black voters also remember Senate Democrats' trying to block renewal of a welfare reform law...

...And they have noted how Democrats oppose school choice, preferring to keep minority children trapped in failing schools.

I have no idea why Black Christians align themselves with Democrats. I have no idea why anyone I know would align themselves with Democrats. Plain and simple, they don't represent my values.

Agreed, below was the democrat position on the right to choose a slave.

"The great principle is the right of everyone to judge and decide for himself, whether a thing is right or wrong, whether it would be good or evil for them to adopt it; and the right of free action, the right of free thought, the right of free judgement upon the question is dearer to every true American than any other under a free government. ... It is no answer to this argument to say that [it] is an evil and hence should not be tolerated. You must allow the people to decide for themselves."

Stephen Douglas,(a democrat) 1858 in reponse to a comment that slavery was evil (the comment was made by Abraham Lincoln)

The last line in the article is worth repeating: Democrats talk a lot about slavery, but they're perfectly happy to have just moved us to another plantation.

Democrats: the right to death, slavery and the pursuit of misery...

Good point. And it was AlGore's daddy that tried to block the Civil Rights act of 1964 in the Senate.
