Boston Pitcher Curt Schilling endorsed Bush on TV and was going to campaign for Bush, then suddenly withdrew and said it was wrong of him to express his political opinion. YET Werner, co-owner of the Red Sox, openly campaigns for Kerry. The article above was written in the heat of the playoffs.

Curt was told that his ALS charity foundation would be in trouble if he went.
I believe.

FWIW, I heard it was the ownership of the Sox. I'm sorry Schilling knuckled under to whomever it was.

If people in NH had heard that Schilling was actually about to come out for Bush, and suddenly had to cancel his appearance, yet, this guy comes to NH instead, they will realize how stink the Dems are...

Nothing like blackmailing those who help the desperate and dying. May they or their loved ones never suffer from that torturous disease... then again...

Since the article was written Oct. 23, it probably meant Sunday the 24th. Even though this is a week old, I posted it to make a point -- that the Red Sox owner is out in a baseball context campaigning for Kerry, yet Curt has to say he was wrong to express his political opinion on TV.

Like anyone could care less about a Red Sox co-owner.

Howie Carr thinks the most likely explanation (actually he sounds sure of it!) for Schilling backing out is that the city (Menino) would withhold permits for the planned Fenway renovation if he went (using permitting, inspections, etc. as a political tool is SOP around here). Howie loves the ins and outs of local politics and has been following it in detail for years, so he may be onto something.

Typical of the 'rats: the owner can play politics with his fellow big-money rata, but the guy that does the heavy lifting - a pubbie - is threatened if he expresses his opinion.

I hope the "Bambino" is taking good note of this, and re-casts his hex on them for the next 100 yrs.
To: LibFreeUSA
I'd rather see the hex shifted to Menino -- who richly deserves it for other things too!

Liberals and free speech -- only if you say what we approve you can say.
No wonder the Soviet Union was such a successful enterprise.
