"there's not a lot of people that are willing to throw away money to make a point."

All it take is one, with a lot of money: SOROS.

What does someone gain by manipulating these markets?
__________________________

Maybe for a small amount of money no analysts can say TradeSport or Iowa future markets seem pretty confident Bush will win. And that is what appears to be going on. Someone seems to be willing to pay not to have the market predicting a Bush win.

Remember much Dim funding has come from someone who follows futures markest carefully. He might not want them confidently forecating a Bush win.

I like to compare the Real Clear politics chart and the AOL Strw Poll(natioal tracking) to the IEM for trend confirmations. Right now with only a couple of days left Bush looks solid

I don’t doubt that there have been attempts to manipulate the markets -- didn’t Bush trade down to $0.10 on TradeSports the other day?

The fact that he’s back over $0.50 proves that someone is throwing their money away for no reason.

It’s simply a buying opportunity. Unless he’s willing to sell an unlimited number of contracts to keep the price down, the market will snap back.

Even if you thought sKerry was going to win -- God forbid -- you could have made money if you were watching it as it happened.

Just think, after this, it's 4 years of "hillary2008 up 4 points at IEM...what does this mean?!?!?!?"

Let's hope folks WAKE UP:

*First of all Kerry has been in the Senate 20 years and has had that lenght of time to introduce some form of legislation to protect our troops or this country just tell us what he has introduced?
*Our troops were stuck with Clinton as a commander-in-chief let's not give them someone with such a shady less than honorable discharge who conspired with the communists. We do not want him as a commander-in-chief over our young men and women who are serving this country overseas they deserve more than Senator Kerry.
*9/11 was not planned on Presiden't Bush's watch but was 2 years in the planning stage...everyone needs to read, "Dereliction of Duty on President Clinton" written by the naval officer that carried the nuclear football at times Clinton was to busy playing golf and would repeatedly not take calls from his Secretary of State....and should I say also tooo busy with Monika.
*Give us a real man who will stand up to Osama......WAKE UP DO NOT ELECT JOHN KERRY....

Well, you're both right, but there's not a lot of people that are willing to throw away money to make a point.

I've not joined the Iowa market, but how much money would it take to blip the 'last market price' of a day? I'd think it'd be pretty cheap, since FWIU if someone places a $0.99 bit for Bush at 23:59:58, they're going to buy one share of Bush at that price. Unless another transaction is posted in the next two seconds, the "last trade price" for Bush shares would be $0.99. If one were to then sell the Bush share for current market price (just after midnight), one would lose less than $0.50 for one's efforts.

Your scheme will not work. If you placed a bid for Bush at .99, it would get filled at the LOWEST current bid price, and then that price would post. It would be extremely unlikely that there would be no outstanding bids.

I thought the rule was that the latest price gets used (i.e. the price that's most favorable to the person who put in the bid first)?

Think this might have been one of the outcomes of the 'billionaires meeting and plot'?
Also, Moore and other Hollywood and other celebs - -- what's a few bucks to them to get their guy elected?
(sorry if I'm sounding like someowhat of a 'conspiracy' nut, but, I don't trust any of them and I'm sure they've got some tricks up their collective sleeves and doing whatever they can to throw this election to skedward).

I suspect it is just Soros his minions and maybe other lefties in the markets. Markets like Iowa and Tradesport are thin enough that it does not take much money nor a conspiracy to move them some.
