Here's the Department of Justice's take on Osama bin Laden's speech. Shepperd Smith read it on his news show tonight.

While Shepard Smith (FOX NEWS around 7:30PM EDT) was reporting on a Bush rally tonight during a live feed he said (voice over)

"I tell you this with this information from our sources at the DoJ, according to US officials, US intelligence analysts are concerned that the tapes from UBL and the one about which we just spoke {Adam Gahdahn (yahyah)} might be a signal for an impending attack... Quoting here: "Analysts have for months believe that the emergence of a Bin Laden message would signal an impending attack" that from the official ... another quote here "there is a seriousness and an urgency with the emergence of this Bin Laden tape that surpasses anything we've seen before." Again - that from a US official quoted to our sources at the DoJ. The official said analysts are linking the 2 tapes and examining the tone and symbolism of the 2 tapes. They believe that the 1st tape from someone who appears to be an American, and may be this Adam Gahdahn, symbolizes brute force and al Qaeda's presence in the US. .. the offical said that the message of that tape is "We are Here"... the tone of the Bin Laden tape shows an attempt to justify the killing of innocents the official said... much more on this from our sources at the DoJ...

This speech could have been...and parts of it have been given by liberal democrats in both houses of Congress. And some of this garbage has been spewed by liberal democrats running for President of the United States during the primary season.

This video worries me because it's so odd. Why would OBL just now decide to explain why he attacked us? I fear there is some encyrpted message in there to carry out some attack, maybe right before elections. Nothing in there is pertinent to anything and some of it (like the security is in each state's hands) doesn't really make sense.

Also, as an aside, the stuff about Bush not reacting right away allowing Al Qaeda more time sounds like OBL has been listening to Michael Moore.

I pray that God will bless Mr. Bin Laden... bless him with a sudden, crushing awareness of the horrors he has perpetrated upon the world, and with a burning desire to be forgiven and to accept man's justice for his crimes. May he turn himself in peacefully, confess his sins to God and his crimes to mankind, and receive in due time the just punishment for murder — the rope.

This transcript shows to me that OBL was totally surprised by the actions that President Bush took after 9/11. He did not expect an American President to act so decisively and aggressively. Because this did not match his previous analysis, he groped around for another way to understand us, his enemy, and found ... Michael Moore and his propaganda. Seizing on this "insight" he came up with the psyco warfare tape, which, based on false premises, will likely have results opposite of what he wishes.
