Darn, I thought this was about.......something else.
Well, I think stuff like Kudzu is bad.
Prineville? Nothin' but sagebrush in Prineville and a few stragly junipers, what's left to kill? Did I miss something?
As a landowner, I have mixed feelings on this one. On one hand, I like to keep the government out of my business. OTOH, I cannot control the invasive species on my land if my neighbor does not also control it on his land. Most farmers/ranchers are good caretakers of the land, but a few are not. And, when it comes to invasive species, a few can undo the work of many.
I think some laws are needed to protect the land...but it seems like it could be handled at the state level...
Wait a minute... aren't the greenpissers an invasive species?
Don't they know that America is the land of immigrants?
OMG! Does this mean most of us will have to move back to Europe????
Does anyone remember the Dutch Elm Disease that destroyed the Elm trees back in the 1960's? The infestation came from shipping crates if I recall. But now I see there are many healthy elm trees coming back although it takes many years to grow a 60 foot elm tree.
Once again, environmental law superceeds common sense.
Could cattle, sheep, pigs, soybeans etc be considered invasive under the same definitions? If the plant or animal damages the environment or displaces natural development of homegrown species then the excessive definitions apply IMHO.
