An old friend of mine is a mucky muck in the BC04 Minnesota operation and he told me that a sweep of Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin is a legitimate expectation given the "internal polling" numbers and the ground game and new registration results the Bush organization has achieved the past 18 months. Minnesota is still on the fence (a 2 point Bush lead), but Wisconsin and Iowa are ready to be painted red. Bush-Cheney have covered their electoral bases expertly.
It's why I openly ridicule the "Fire 'Carl' Rove" goofballs in this forum.

Hildy, I have three siblings in California, and two of my sisters were Clinton "soccer mom" type social moderates. All three voted for Arnold October 2003, and they've already voted for George W. Bush this election.
They'd never have voted for McClintock or that "strain" of Conservative. But, they are professionals who live their lives conservatively, raise families in churches and the Arnold/Bush brand of Republican scratches them right where they itch as Californians, who embody the quirky political and cultural sensibilities of your wonderous state.
Arnold is opening the Republican party to my sisters. Among millions of other Californians who have socially moderate sensibilities. That's how you build winning coalitions in this great system of ours. The "my way or the highway" bullies have long since been kicked to the curb. Free Republic, in many ways, is their last bastion of expression.
