GOP Senator Arlen Specter Vows to Block Bush's {Judicial} Nominees

GOP Sen. Specter Vows to Block Bush's Nominees

Recall that alleged Republican Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, upon winning the primary, immediately backstabbed President Bush, who had campaigned for him instead of actual Republican Pat Toomey. Turns out Specter was just getting started.

We now see that the usually pro-Democrat Pittsburgh Post-Gazette endorsed the sharp-horned RINO in Tuesday's general election for this reason: "Before the Post-Gazette editorial board, he promised that no extremists would be approved for the bench."

What the pro-abortion Specter and pro-abortion Post-Gazette mean by "extremist" is anyone who isn't pro-abortion or who otherwise follows the U.S. Constitution instead of making up legislation from the bench.

"Even if he votes nine out of 10 times for the administration, we trust his word that the 10 percent of difference will be a brake on the worst excesses of a second Bush term, if it comes to that," the pee-yoo P-G snarled.

Good thing we'll be gaining seats in the Senate to make that jackass irrelevant.

This confirms my fears at the time Bush endorsed him that Specter would do this.

Specter has a long record of opposing his party on critical votes, including impeachment and judicial appointments. He was one of the persons chiefly responsible for borking Bork.

Isn't Specter the guy that defended the liberal Earth day guy (cannot recall his name- was it Ira Hoffman?) that murdered his girlfriend and hid her body in a suitcase? I may have this confused, but I was thinking he was his lawyer- I don't think the murderer ever got brought to justice!!

After the election, the flak guns will be aimed at Bush for his past transgressions. Specter is one.

I won't be voting for Specter.

Hofel (sp?) is getting my vote.

I'd rather lose a seat in the senate than have Specter chair the judiciary committee.

3 thoughts: Bush worked his a-- off to help Arlen barely win the GOP Primary against Toomey, based on the belief that an incumbent...well, you get the point. Nice to see Specter repay Bush's kindness.

Secondly, this is why we don't really need "moderates" like Specter, Chaffee, Snow, Collins, Hagel, McCain, etc.

Finally, Specter should never receie a seat at the table again if the GOP cleans up this election

The popular murderer is named Ira Reinhorn, and, yes, the popular Specter was Reinhorn's attorney. It's kind of like the unpopular John Adams defending the unpopular British soldiers who killed five colonists in the Boston Massacre, March 5, 1770. It's a dirty job, the popular Pennsylvanian might say, but somebody has to do it!

Bush knows how to play Snarlin' Arlen. He'll throw up a "controversial" judge. Arlen will grandstand and "bravely" block the nominee. Then the next 5 or 6 will breeze through. I warn you, though. There will be a sacrificial lamb.

I noticed too that the despicable senator has been silent on the matter of disenfranchising the military votes in his state.

No doubt he helped the prisoners vote tho.

Wish I could join you. That is one senator that needs to be defeated.

We as Freepers should in this case support the election of the Democratic candidate and flush this idiot out of the Senate once and for all. Then put up someone better in six years.

Really, why would anyone be surprised that Specter is admitting openly that he is a "Brutus"? (I can't say the other name that rhymes with "Brutus" for fear of anti-Semitism.)

If that's the case, then you heard it here first: George W. Bush's first Supreme Court nominee will be Pat Buchanan.
