Event workers had been told to fire off confetti pods when Bush said, 'God Bless'... his normal closing line. But 5 minutes before the end of his speech, Bush offered a "God Bless" to Arlene Howard, mother of George Howard a Port Authority of New York/New Jersey Police Officer killed in the World Trade Center... BLAM!!!!! Everyone first ducked -- hard -- then looked up to see confetti falling. Bush looked momentarily stunned, then plain unhappy, then just went on with his speech as the confetti rained to the floor of the Verizon Wireless Arena... Developing...
Yep...He says God bless way too often. LOL
Murphy's law rules.
Okay, may be it happened to me once, but I was drunk.
Doh! Okay, I'll hold the chisel REAL still and when I nod my head, you hit it.
we're doomed. Al Confetti has penetrated our borders and Bush outsourced our defenses to some disgruntled campaign worker.
Have the Dems put out their new attack ad on this yet? Has anyone seen it?
Has Kerry added it to his stump speech yet?
LOL
They have medication for that sort of thing now.
HAR
Developing??? What's to develop?
" The blast was very loud - like a gun shot."
We can only imagine what the President carries on his shoulders, 24/ 7.
Kerry would have been hiding under Edward's skirt.
Sheesh - I WAS THERE - it was a little startling but I will tell you that W didn't miss a beat! He WAS AWESOME!!! Judd Gregg announced that it was the largest political rally he's ever seen in NH!!! The arena was rockin'! We're working hard up here to keep NH in the Bush column!
GO W!
Whoever pulled the trigger, most likely a A/V freelance technician or possibly an IATSE union guy, will have a hard time getting his next gig if the event's producer knows he is the one who pulled the trigger on this miscue.
Maybe if you had as many death threats as the President has had, you might give him some slack for those "looks".......just a thought.
Is there video out there, anybody?
He was in the middle of saying 'God Bless you' to a woman who lost her son in the WTC attacks. I can understand why he saw no levity in the moment.
I doubt the look was in fear of his own safety, more likely that because it interrupted his request for a blessing for that poor woman. To have tried to make light of the moment would have been unseemly politics when this man takes his faith very seriously.
ConfettiGate!
Protesters too
Don't you just hate it when that happens?
