Kerry Says Saddam 'Might Be Gone' Had He Been President Fri Oct 29 2004 10:02:35 ET

NBCNEWS Brokaw interviewed John Kerry Thursday evening.

Brokaw: "If you had been President, Saddam Hussein would be in power."

Kerry: "Not necessarily."

Brokaw: "You said you wouldn't go to war against him."

Kerry: "That's not true. Because under the inspection process, Saddam Hussein was required to destroy those kinds of materials and weapons."

Brokaw: "But he wasn't destroying them."

Kerry: "That's what you have inspectors for. That's why I voted for the threat of force, because he only does things when you have a legitimate threat of force. It's irresponsible to suggest that if I were President, he wouldn't be gone. He might be gone, because if he hadn't complied, we might have had to go to war, but if we did, we would have gone with allies, so the American people weren't carrying the entire burden. And the entire world would understand why we did it."

If Kerry had been President instead of Bush 41, Saddam would own Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, and control most of the worlds oil supply. On the bright side i'm sure President Kerry would have imposed some very strict sanctions and would addressed the problem in a very harsh but sensitive tone.

Voted for the THREAT of force? Who is this A-hole kidding.

[says kerry] "It's irresponsible to suggest that if I were President, he wouldn't be gone. He might be gone, because if he hadn't complied, we might have had to go to war, but if we did, we would have gone with allies, so the American people weren't carrying the entire burden. And the entire world would understand why we did it."

it's irresponsible to blast away at our forces and commander in chief while we are at war. also, what allies is kerry talking about? mittiner says we are fighting terrorism in 102 countries -- how many more allies do we need?

kerry is such a leaderless linguini spine that he won't do a thing unless there are 5 billion people that agree with him. sorry, he will raise taxes and kill unborn babies without 5 billion behind him...my bad.

No wonder Kerry looks sleepy eyed and dizzy, it's from all that spinning. Our troops would be slaughtered under Kerry's mismanagement, or more to the point, our troops under U.N. control.

Somalia on a grander scale.

I think this interview helps Kerry a little. But how long were we going to keep an invasion force at the ready? Saddam was willing to play games forever, the "allies" were just not ever going to call his bluff.

Giving an absolute ultimatum and then invading was utterly reasonable - the "allies" screwed it up, so what can we do in the face of that? They were too economically tied to Saddam's continued existence and too desirous of screwing the US to pull the trigger.

Who's is he trying to kid? Kerry would have maintained the status quo - there would have been no resumption of inspections, no resolution 1441, nothing. Sanctions would have been lifted by now and Saddam would be rearming.

Right on--again Kerry directly body slams Poland, Italy, Australia, etc. Its France and only france that counts to him. What a moron. I

Isn't he supposed to be able to nuance stuffwith xconsiderable "brilliance"? He continues to directly insult other countries everytime he opens his mouth. Maybe Tereesa can give him lessons on being careful when one speaks!!!!!!

Yo! Genius. We had inspectors. Saddam did not comply. If we had not gone to war, it would not have been a legitimate threat of force. We gave Saddam his final chance to comply on December 12, 2001, and he blew it off. After that, it was time to invade.

Nobody doubts that he was in material breach. USSC 1441 authorized the use of force. We invaded in compliance with UN resolutions. So where was Germany? Where was France? Why couldn't they understand? It could not have been more clear.

I'll paint you an even gloomier picture. If Kerry has been President in 1991, Saddam would be in power, he would control the Kuwaiti and Saudi Oil Fields, he would control most of the world's oil supply, he would have pusued and completed all of his WMD programs and liekly would have nuclear weapons and certainly would have more advanced Chem/Bio weapons which would have been distributed to terrorists. A Islamist extremist named Osama Bin Laden would take power in a puppet governent in Saudi Arabia and use the oil wealth of the Saudi Republic Of Iraq to fund a massive arms buildup against Israel.

Who was the women that got fired on the Apprentice last might?

She couldn't make up her mind about anything, being a highly intellectual, and nuanced person. This led to a virtual mutiney of her team. She was so bad, Trump fired her without the usual return to the room with other potential scapegoats.

Kerry and that women are related.

Or, to quote the indispensible Mark Steyn,

“That’s John Kerry: the “not necessarily” candidate. Saddam might not necessarily be in power. He might have been hit by the Number 37 bus while crossing the street at the intersection of Saddam Hussein Boulevard and Saddam Hussein Parkway in downtown Tikrit. He might have put his back out with one of his more vigorous concubines and been forced to hand over to Uday or Qusay. He might have stiffed Chirac in some backdoor deal and been taken out by some anthrax-laced Quality Street planted by an elite French commando unit....

Kerry is such a mental lightweight.

I can't believe anyone would ever vote for this guy, mass mental defectiveness must be the reason.

This man has GOT to be the most naive, stupid, clueless individual on the face of the planet.

The fact that almost half of all Americans plan to vote for this french-loving, slack-jawed neanderthal is astounding.

A cowboy was herding his herd in a remote pasture when suddenly a brand-new BMW advanced out of a dust cloud towards him.

The driver, a young man in a Brioni suit, Gucci shoes, Ray Ban sunglasses, YSL tie, leans out the window and asks the cowboy, "If I tell you exactly how many cows and calves you have in your herd, will you give me a calf?"

The cowboy looks at the man, obviously a yuppie, then looks at his peacefully grazing herd and calmly answers, "Sure. Why not?" The yuppie parks his car, whips out his Dell notebook computer, connects it to his AT&T cell phone, surfs to a NASA page on the Internet, where he calls up a GPS satellite navigation system to get an exact fix on his location which he then feeds to another NASA satellite that scans the area in an ultra-high-resolution photo. The young man then opens the digital photo in Adobe Photoshop and exports it to an image processing facility in Hamburg, Germany. Within seconds, he receives an email on his Palm Pilot that the image has been processed and the data stored. He then accesses a MS-SQL database through an ODBC connected Excel spreadsheet with hundreds of complex formula. He uploads all of this data via an email on his Blackberry and, after a few minutes, receives a response. Finally, he prints out a full-color, 150-page report on his hi-tech, miniaturized HP LaserJet printer and finally turns to the cowboy and says, "You have exactly 1586 cows and calves."

"That's right. Well, I guess you can take one of my calves," says the cowboy. He watches the young man select one of the animals and looks on amused as the young man stuffs it into the trunk of his car. Then the cowboy says to the young man, "Hey, if I can tell you exactlywhat your business is, will you give me back my calf?"

The young man thinks about it for a second and then says, "Okay, why not?"

"You're a democrat consultant" says the cowboy.

"Wow! That's correct," says the yuppie, "but how did you guess that?"

"No guessing required." answered the cowboy. "You showed up here even though nobody called you. You want to get paid for an answer I already knew to a question I never asked; and you don't know anything about my business..........Now give me back my dog!
